NextBillion - An Initiative of the William Davidson Institute at the University of Michigan

NextBillion has been posting jobs in the social enterprise, academic, multinational and development sectors for several years now. And in the year and a half I’ve been managing editor, several members of our community have told me some variation of the following:

“I found my job on NextBillion.”

“I hired (so-and-so) after placing a job on NB.”

“Please take my ad down, we’ve found a candidate through your site.”

Sure, the feedback is antedotal. But it’s also gratifying to hear that NextBillion has had an impact for employers and/or professional job hunters, students seeking internship opportunities, recent graduates looking for fellowships, and volunteers looking to pitch in.

So a few months back we asked ourselves: How can we create more value for these employers and for job candidates? Today NextBillion is launching a new enhancement we think will help both groups: Featured Jobs.

What’s the value for Featured Job versus a free job posting on NextBillion? For one, employers and organizations posting an ad will be able to secure a spot in on our homepage slideshow. Secondly, all reserved Featured Jobs will be placed at the top of the Career Center page. Finally, each featured job will be distributed to more than 17,000 NextBillion fans and followers via our combined social media networks on Twitter, Facebook, Google+ and in our LinkedIn Group.

Employers may now place a Featured Job advertisement for $20 per ad, per day. This is purely a first come, first served opportunity. And we will only place one Featured Job in the slideshow per day. Advertisers can schedule Featured Job ads using the calendar tool, which displays which dates are available, which dates are taken and which dates they’ve selected.

We will continue to offer free advertisements for any job, fellowship, internship or volunteer opportunity on NextBillion, just as you’ve come to expect from us over the years. And as with any transaction, there’s always a disclaimer:

NextBillion publishes all professional, internship, fellowship and volunteer ads that we deem appropriate for the enterprise through development community. NextBillion reserves the right to decline job ads that do not meet our standards.
