Tilak Mishra
IFMR Ventures

Tilak Mishra is a social entrepreneur in residence and an impact investor at IFMR Ventures, an asset management company that exists to ensure that every enterprise has complete access to financial services. At IFMR Ventures, Tilak is working on building solutions that ensures India’s rural and semi-urban youth have improved choices to completely access employability enhancing resources and opportunities. Tilak is also a Director at Vocational Academy (http://vocad.in), a social enterprise whose mission is to develop and supply skilled manpower for various emerging service sectors in India Inc. through short-term job-oriented certificate courses.

Prior to joining IFMR Ventures, Tilak worked at SKS Microfinance as an Assistant Vice President in the Business Development team, where he primary focused on renewable energy and rural connectivity. Prior to SKS Microfinance, Tilak received his Master’s Degree from University of Pennsylvania, where he attended Wharton School of Business and School of Social Policy and Practice. His past experiences also include working as a consultant and business development manager for Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) in India, Sweden, and Holland. At TCS, Tilak contributed to the enterprise-level vision, strategy, decision-making, and leadership that translated into improved project operational efficiency and new business development. Post TCS, Tilak managed an agricultural products manufacturing company where he was the primary driving force behind the turnaround and growth of the firm.

Tilak grew up in India and also holds a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering. At university, Tilak co-founded a student-consulting firm to fund the early operational costs of Brindavan Bal Niketan, the elementary school for underprivileged children he started at age 18.
