Eric Tyler focuses on the intersection of mobile technology, economic development and entrepreneurship. He is a consultant with CGAP (World Bank Group), a research fellow with the think tank New America, and co-founder of the startup Globality. His current projects span four continents ranging from building apps distinguished by the White House to advising and researching mobile technology utilization in emerging markets. Mr. Tyler’s writings have been published in print and online in The Guardian, The Wall Street Journal, CNN, and Foreign Policy Magazine, among other outlets.     The excitement of mobile money has been dampened by an inability of deployments to take hold outside a handful of successful markets. Driving the enthusiasm forward is the opportunity to bridge the gap between one billion people in emerging markets who have mobile phones but no bank account. On Tuesday, McKinsey & Company released a report “Mobile money: Getting to scale in emerging markets” seeking to cut through this excitement and identify critical success factors for implementation.
