As Head of Impact for Acumen Fund, Adams leads the organization's global work to gain a richer understanding of the how and why of creating impact through patient capital investing. This includes oversight of Acumen’s work in metrics; working with Acumen’s portfolio team both to deepen analysis of social impact prior to investment and supporting our investees to maximize impact; as well as original impact-focused research into individual companies and the sector as a whole.
Prior to Acumen, Adams worked for the UK Department for International Development (DfID), first as Country Economist in Nigeria and subsequently leading its private sector and climate change teams in Ethiopia where he oversaw the design and implementation of new development programs worth $250m. He has also worked as a diplomat for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and as an economic advisor within the UK Government Equalities Office, where he helped shape Government’s commitments to tackle inequality, including work on the Discrimination Law Review. Adams began his career working at Credit Suisse First Boston focused on equity derivatives.
He holds a BSc (Hons.) in Economics and Econometrics from Nottingham University and a MSc (Distinction) in Economics with reference to Africa from the London School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS).
