Margot Kane and Leigh Moran

Margot Kane isvice president of Strategic Initiatives at Calvert Foundation. Shemanages strategy development, fundraising, and implementation of new investment initiatives and portfolios that target key impact areas at Calvert Foundation, such as women’s empowerment (WIN-WIN) and the revitalization of iconic cities. Previously, she managed a $75 million loan portfolio, originated and underwrote transactions, and developed investment strategies for Calvert Foundation’s loan portfolio.

 

After working in international development at Pathfinder International in Boston and Ethiopia, she developed an interest in social finance through working at Walden Asset Management and NCB Capital Impact.She has an M.B.A. from the University of California-Berkeley, where she was a founding principal of a $1.5 million student-run social investment fund, and a B.A. from Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota. She is a 2013 PLACES Fellow with The Funders’ Network for Smart Growth and Livable Communities.

 

 

 

Leigh Moran is a senior officer on the Strategic Initiatives team at Calvert Foundation, focused on the design and implementation of investment initiatives based on key social impact areas, such as the Women Investing in Women Initiative launched last year. She is currently leading Calvert Foundation’s work to develop a new initiative to engage diaspora communities to invest in the economic development of their country of origin or heritage.

 

Prior to Calvert Foundation, she spent time at the National Economic Council and also worked with a microinsurance NGO in New Delhi to create an impact assessment framework for field programs. She completed a Princeton-in-Asia fellowship in Hangzhou, China and holds a B.A. in Economics from Boston College.
