Andy Lieberman
Global Social Benefit Institute - Santa Clara University

Andrew Lieberman’spassion is to leverage his background in technology, education, and international development to help social enterprises scale their reach and impact. As director of New Program R&D for the Global Social Benefit Institute at Santa Clara University, his focus is on building partnerships and content development.

Since joining the Center in 2008, Andy has worked with dozens of social entrepreneurs in the development and presentation of their business plans for scaling. He has also led the creation of the Center’s Energy Map website (www.energymap-scu.org) which profiles 60 social enterprises providing clean energy to the underserved.

Before joining the Center, Andy lived in Guatemala for many years, pioneering efforts to bring educational technology to rural communities and founding the NGO, Ajb’atz’ Enlace Quiche. His work received awards from the United Nations’ World Summit on the Information Society and The Tech Awards.

Andy has a B.S. degree from U.C. Berkeley in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, a M.S. degree in Education from Capella University, and did coursework in the Social Leaders program at the Tecnológico de Monterrey. He is also a reading judge for William James Foundation’s Socially Responsible Business Plan Competition and for the Rockefeller Innovation Challenge.
