Mariana Gonzalez
New Ventures

Mariana is the communications and metrics assistant for the New Ventures team. New Ventures is WRI’s center for environmental entrepreneurship, helping environmentally-focused small and medium enterprises in six key emerging markets compete in a global economy. Mariana works to raise the profile of New Ventures and communicate the success stories of the environmental entrepreneurs that New Ventures supports. She also manages the New Ventures portfolio impact metrics that are used to quantify the positive impact of New Ventures enterprises and serves as the liaison for the New Ventures Colombia program.

Mariana graduated with a BS and MS in Earth Systems from Stanford University, where she focused on energy, climate change, and greenhouse gas management. At Stanford she interned for The Climate Conservancy and led a class called “Reducing Stanford’s Carbon Footprint.” She also spent a summer in her hometown of Tucson, Arizona helping the Climate Change Advisory Committee develop a city climate action plan. After graduation Mariana completed a MAP Fellowship at World Resources Institute with the Business Engagement in Climate and Technology team and the Greenhouse Gas Protocol team.
