Friday Roundup ? 8/12/11: ROI on Rainwater

“Imagine if your family had to spend a month’s income just on clean water?”

That’s what many of Guatemala’s poorest families face, as tap water isn’t drinkable and bottled water isn’t affordable. It’s also a question raised in the video below by RainSaucers, a social startup with a device that does just what the name implies. RainSaucers, which is funded by First Light Ventures, recently conducted a field trial in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala to determine if families would in fact find an investment in rain collecting devices worthwhile as a way to offset bottled water costs.
