FEATURED EVENT: SOCAP: Designing the Future – Amplifying the Impact

How are you designing the future?

Lisa Heydlauff tells stories to inspire the children of Indian slums and villages to believe in their own possibilities; Paul Cheng works to improve the financial efficiency of charities and social enterprises out of London; Keely Stevenson in San Francisco invests in women due to the multiplier effect they have in support of long-term economic growth; and in Zurich, social entrepreneur, Roman Gaus, is developing a cost-efficient, sustainable and process-controlled way to grow food and roll out urban farms worldwide.

In less than one month, May 8-10, Lisa, Paul, Roman and Keely will all travel to join hundreds of others in the innovative Scandinavian city of Malmö, Sweden (just 20 minutes from the Copenhagen airport) for SOCAP:Designing the Future. The event comes after our inaugural European event, SOCAP/Europe, which sold out in Amsterdam last year (see past coverage here, here, here and here. While we will inevitably reflect on the accomplishments and debates in the year since we last gathered in Europe our focus is on what’s ahead: how is the work that we’re individually and collaboratively doing each day designing a common future that’s better for all? How can we work together in amplifying our impact?

Attendees will be able to connect and begin the conversation online prior to the event, and then engage in person for two full days of main stage keynotes, workshops, open space sessions and evening parties. The schedule features social capital market pioneers from organizations such as Acumen Fund, Voxtra, Aga Khan Development Network, LGT Venture Philanthropy, Stockholm Resilience Center and The Young Foundation who will share their insights on a broad range of topics including investing in our planet, immigrant inclusion, social entrepreneur capacity building, public-private partnerships and more. But what our team at SOCAP gets most excited about is the conversations that happen in the hallways – where partners met, ideas are shared, dots are connected, deals are made and vision is set for the steps ahead.
