The Global Impact Investing Network is a not-for-profit organization[1] dedicated to increasing the scale and effectiveness of impact investing. Impact investments are investments made into companies, organizations, and funds with the intention to generate measurable social and environmental impact alongside a financial return. They can be made in both emerging and developed markets, and target a range of returns from below market to market rate, depending upon the circumstances. The GIIN addresses systemic barriers to effective impact investing by building critical infrastructure and developing activities, education, and research that attract more investment capital to address global challenges.

The GIIN currently has five program areas that are designed to address the critical needs of the emerging impact investing industry.

1. Network membership is for organizations interested in deepening their engagement with the impact investing industry. Members of the GIIN are connected to a thriving peer community and gain formal access to industry information, tools, and resources.

2. The Investors’ Council is an invitation-only leadership group for active large-scale impact investors. It provides a forum for experienced impact investors to strengthen the practice of impact investing and accelerate learning about new areas in the field.

3. The Impact Reporting and Investment Standards (IRIS) is a set of metrics with standard definitions that provide a consistent method for describing an organization’s social, environmental, and financial performance.

4. ImpactBase is the online global directory of impact investment vehicles that reduces search costs for investors and fund managers.

5. The Outreach Initiative elevates the profile of impact investing by highlighting exemplary impact investments, industry progress, and best practices. The GIIN also conducts and disseminates research, informs conference and event programming, and promotes mainstream media coverage of impact investments.

The Global Impact Investing Network (GIIN) is looking to hire a Manager to play a key role in shaping and implementing a new program in this growing organization. The GIIN has received significant funding to create a new and innovative Capacity Building Facility for impact investment fund managers. This facility will provide grant support to training partners in sub-Saharan African and South Asia. These partners will utilize the grant funds to provide training that builds the skills of local impact investment fund management teams. The training curriculum will emphasize two core areas: (1) strengthening the financial skills local fund managers need to make and manage impact investments, and (2) enhancing their capacity to measure the social and environmental performance of investments and to use this data to more effectively manage impact investments. Currently, fund manager capacity is acknowledged as a key constraint facing impact investors looking to deploy capital; this new GIIN program aims to address this constraint in order to increase the scale and effectiveness of capital deployed via impact investment funds.

The ideal candidate for the role must have strong program development, project management, and relationship management experience. This position will report to the Managing Director.

Responsibilities:

· Lead the development of the Capacity Building Program, including programmatic design and implementation, to effectively develop the impact investing capacity of program participants

· Design and coordinate the grantee selection process

· Manage grantee relationships to support implementation, including goal-setting, service delivery, performance monitoring, and using program performance information to adapt the program as needed for maximum effectiveness

· Support marketing of program to increase fund management staff participation

· Provide oversight to the contracting process, including accounting and compliance, in conjunction with our sponsoring organization

· Oversee development of the program’s training curriculum, including managing a consultant to determine stakeholder priorities for programmatic content and delivery

· Manage relationships and identify strategic opportunities for collaboration on program design and development with partners, practitioners, and other stakeholders

· Represent the GIIN and its Capacity Building program at relevant events, webinars, and conferences

· Work in partnership with other GIIN programs that engage impact investment fund managers to ensure coordinated service delivery from the GIIN

The Manager of the Capacity Building Program must have the ability to launch and manage cross-cultural programs in an organized, collaborative, and resourceful manner. The ideal candidate has relationship and project management experience, and is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Experience in high-growth organizations is advantageous, but not required, for the role.

Other requirements:

· Strong conviction that private investment capital can effectively address social and environmental challenges

· Experience in managing training or capacity-building programs with demonstrable impact highly desirable

· 8+ years of relevant work experience showing ability to manage projects and relationships, preferably in multiple geographies

· Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or equivalent experience in related field preferred (e.g. Business, Policy, Finance, International Development)

· Excellent analytical, problem solving, and critical and creative thinking skills; a proactive approach to solving problems

· Success managing large projects with multiple remote stakeholders, prioritizing simultaneous projects, achieving objectives, and meeting deadlines

· Strong writing and editing skills

· Ability to travel internationally

· Experience managing relationships with donor agencies preferred

· Team-orientation, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work both collaboratively and independently

· Outstanding verbal communication and presentation skills

· Detail-oriented, with high standards of performance

· Fluent in Microsoft Office Suite, comfort working with internet tools and technology to manage projects and relationships

· Personable, engaging presence, with diplomacy, tact, and good humor
