Citi Microfinance Supports Microfinance and Nonprofit Institutions

TORONTO, Sept. 12, 2011 /CNW/ – Toronto International Microfinance Summit announced today that Citi Microfinance is providing $25,000 to enable the attendance of select representatives of microfinance and nonprofit institutions at its 2011 conference, taking place at Toronto’s Allstream Centre this month. In its third year, the Summit is comprised of two events: a fundraising Gala on September 16, followed by the micro way Conference and a new MicroMarketplace on September 17. This year the conference theme is From Microcredit to Financial Inclusion: Making a Difference in our World. Topics include:

  • Financial literacy, youth programs and First Nations
  • Mobile banking, technology and investment funds with impact
  • How microfinance enables global health initiatives
  • Rating microfinance institutions and risk management
  • Microfinance in conflict zones

“It’s important to share best practices as we expand the microfinance model for financial inclusion in North America,” said Bob Annibale, Citi’s Global Director for Microfinance and Community Development. “Citi is pleased to enable key players in the field to attend this important gathering as we continue to support thought leadership around microfinance issues.”
