“ENTREPRENEURSHIP, Private Sector and Sustainable Development in Africa,” was the main theme of the 13th International Conference on African Entrepreneurship and Small Business (ICAESB-2012) held from 20th-21st, last month, in Dar es Salaam.

The conference, which is part of a series of conferences organised and hosted annually by the University of Dar es Salaam Business School (UDBS) brought together over 100 delegates from Tanzania and seven other countries including Kenya, Uganda, Botswana, Netherlands, Nigeria, India and Italy.

“This conference provides a forum for academics, practitioners, policy makers and other stakeholders in entrepreneurship, private sector and sustainable developmental issues from all corners of the globe to critically address these issues,” says Dr Ulingeta Mbamba, who is the UDBS Dean.

Over 30 papers were presented during the two-day conference and deliberations were disseminated through publications of conference proceedings and journal articles. The topics focused on Agribusiness and Sustainable Development, The Informal Sector and Inclusive Development, Energy for Rural Development, Public Private Dialogue and Public Private Partnerships and Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainable Development.
