Notts company Eminate aims to improve global health with new ingredients

Monday, September 15, 2014

After achieving global success with a salt-reduction product, a Nottingham company is working on new ingredients which could improve health.

Eminate – a University of Nottingham-owned business that specialises in creating alternative food ingredients – is working on projects for the Technology Strategy Board, which supports the development of innovative products.

At its laboratories in Sutton Bonington, tests are being carried out to establish whether an ingredient made from pumpkin extract can reduce blood pressure or type-two diabetes.

Ingredients which contain slow-release nutrients specifically tailored to meet the health needs of elderly people are also being tested.
