Enterprise Uganda to Become Autonomous

ENTERPRISE Uganda, a business development and advisory services provider, will turn into a legal entity, independent from the finance ministry, Charles Ocici, the body’s executive director, has said.
“We shall launch a national legal entity, defined by a wider array of business development solutions, reputable board, competent staff and a wider source of business partners and revenue sources,” he said at their Lumumba Avenue office in Kampala.
Ocici said because Uganda is a pioneer country for the business linkage programme, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) had been keen to see the launch of the legal entity.
The business linkage programme helps small and medium enterprises become suppliers of goods and services to multinationals.
He said, “After the launch, the institution will have the ability to enter large contracts on its own. Currently, all our contracts are signed through the Government, UNDP and other organisations, which limits our ability to pursue our goals.”
Ocici said Enterprise Uganda’s perpetuity would also get assured, and they would become a national vehicle for channelling business solutions to target groups as determined by stakeholders like the Government and donors, who will assume an advisory role
