The Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship, in partnership with the Jubilant Bhartia Foundation announced Dr. H. Sudarshan, founder of Karuna Trust, as the winner of the India Social Entrepreneur of the Year, 2014 Award. The awards were conferred in New Delhi, at a well-attended gala, by Mr. Arun Jaitley, Minister of Finance, Corporate Affairs and Defence, Government of India. The other finalists included Matthew Spacie of Magic Bus and Yogendra Bhushan of Bodh Shiksha Samiti.

This year, the jury included Ms. Shobhana Bhartia (Chairperson & Editorial Director of HT Media Ltd), Ms. Sudha Pillai (Former Member Secretary of Planning Commission, Government of India), Mr. David Aikman (Managing Director, World Economic Forum), Ms. Neelam Chhiber (Managing Director, Industree Crafts Pvt Ltd, Industree Crafts Foundation and Mother Earth), Dr. Harish Hande (Managing Director, Selco Solar Light Ltd), Mr. Sunil Kant Munjal (Joint Managing Director, Hero Moto Corp), Mr. Ronnie Screwvala (Founder – Unilazer Ventures Ltd & Swades Foundation), and Ms. Chetna Sinha (Director, Mann Deshi Group of Ventures).
