Global Health Corps is a leadership development organization that offers a yearlong paid multidisciplinary fellowship for emerging leaders, ages 21-30, through partnership with nonprofits and government agencies on the front lines of health, in Malawi, Rwanda, Uganda, Zambia, and the US.

The Communications and Advocacy Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing Greater Newark Healthcare Coalition’s (GNHCC) communications and outreach strategies. The coordinator will research evidence-based best practices in support of GNHCC program development and in furtherance of GNHCC’s public education mission.

This opportunity is ideal for someone who has a passion for health care and social justice, and who is interested in innovative and creative ways to use communications, outreach, and research strategies to drive transformation in health care. The fellow will be excited to learn and develop professionally and will have the opportunity to work with leaders of health care institutions, local and state government, philanthropy, and peers in the field. Reporting to the Executive Director and Project Managers, the Communications and Advocacy Coordinator will have broad exposure to all aspects of developing and implementing communications, outreach, and research strategies at an innovative healthcare startup.

Responsibilities:
-Maintain and grow GNHCC’s communications and outreach strategies, including website and social media presence
-Create and send out quarterly reports
-Develop communication materials for GNHCC programs, including GNHCC annual report
-Maintain internal communication materials, such as meeting minutes and presentations
-Manage public relations and promote GNHCC opportunities and activities through local media
-Provide support to GNHCC Legal and Advocacy Committee and related advocacy work

Skills and Experience:

-Bachelor’s degree*
-Excellent written communication with experience producing materials for external audiences like grant proposals and reports, quarterly and annual reports, and/or presentations*
-Experience with conference, event, and/or meeting planning*
-Experience working with media, for example writing press releases*
-Track record of innovation and achievement in studies or work history*
-Highly organized, energetic, and motivated*
-Excellent relationship building and oral communication skills*
-Familiarity with urban communities, including potential partners and stakeholders*
-Comfortable operating independently and in a team environment*
-Cultural sensitivity to interact diplomatically and effectively with professional partners and community members alike*
-Ability to prioritize and meet multiple deadlines under pressure*
-Self-starter and self-disciplined*
-Experience in website design and/or maintenance, e.g. Squarespace, WordPress, Drupal, and/or basic HTML
-Experience managing social media in a professional context
-Experience in graphic design, e.g. Adobe Creative Cloud: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign
-Experience developing communications materials for a range of audiences
