ABOUT RELAY

Despite record levels of investment, evidence shows that it is still challenging to get capital to many fintech companies, including those targeting the 3 billion financially underserved people worldwide. Research indicates that this is due, in part, to a lack of information which makes it difficult for investors to identify and evaluate opportunities. RELAY is a forthcoming data solution from MIX that will bridge the information gap between fintech companies and investors and, in doing so, unlock capital for inclusive fintech innovations.

THE ROLE

MIX is looking for an analyst to help prototype of our fintech data solution, which will use large data sets to deliver insights to fintech startups and investors, in support of our overall goal to drive capital to fintechs best placed to expand financial inclusion.

The analyst will lead the processes and functions necessary to structure data into a comprehensive online solution for two primary audiences: (1) investors, who will need to navigate the data solution prototype to discover relevant fintechs and to generate customized reports with relevant industry benchmarks and company comparables; and (2) fintech start-ups, will who use the data solution to access investor insights based on their own unique company details (in other words, Which investors are investing in start-ups like mine?).

RESPONSIBILITIES & DELIVERABLES

Investor insights for fintechs:

Initial build of 3-4 wireframes (wireframes to be provided) within PowerBI

Documented feedback into testing plan for initial wireframes

Iterating as necessary based on feedback, build the complete solution to provide dynamic investors insights for fintechs, building off of the design concept / storyboards (to be provided)

Documented feedback on design concept / storyboards based on build in order to inform iterations that will improve the user experience

Fintech profiles and benchmark reports for investors:

Initial build of 3-4 wireframes (wireframes to be provided) within PowerBI

Documented feedback into testing plan for initial wireframes

Iterating as necessary based on feedback, build the complete solution to provide dynamic database of fintech profiles as well as the ability for users to generate their own reports, building off of the design concept / storyboards (to be provided)

Documented feedback on design concept / storyboards based on build in order to inform iterations that will improve the user experience

Documented feedback on the testing plan, developed in coordination with MIX team members

Project close:

Powerpoint or other document with key tips, tools, and strategies for carrying forward the design concept (end of assignment). This will support work throughout the assignment with MIX Data Directors and Lead Analysts to ensure that the team can carry forward the design concept.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Solid data analysis skills, with extensive experience with Excel and solid knowledge of data visualization for dynamic information products which engage external users.

Prior usage of data analytics tools, such as PowerBI or Tableau. Direct experience with PowerBI is a key advantage.

Analytical approach that marries a deep understanding of data with a curiosity and a client-centric view of the questions to be answered and the client’s need for data.

Experience or understanding of UI/UX design for data products and services is a key advantage.

Knowledge sharing skills, with the ability to document processes and knowledge for others to replicate and refine.

Understanding of the inclusive finance landscape and the role financial services play in achieving development goals is preferred.

A strong team player, adhering to team best practices, managing tasks across team members towards team deliverables, and contributing to and learning from other team members.

CONTRACT DETAILS

Contract terms: The analyst is expected to work an average of 28 hours per week for an expected tenure of 18 weeks (60 days maximum). The analyst will work remotely. The analyst is expected to be available for scheduled meetings with supervisors (based in Europe) and external actors when necessary. This is a consulting position and the compensation will be determined on the basis of the skills and background of the consultant.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

The analyst will report to a Director responsible for the fintech data solution who will be responsible for overall oversight and development of the prototype. The analyst will work with MIX team members and external stakeholders who will be engaged to inform the design. The analyst may interact directly with future users of the prototype as necessary in order to inform design and testing.
