Position Summary
MCE is seeking an energetic and versatile candidate to join our growing team as the Communications & Business Development Associate. In this new role, the Associate will support and manage some of his/her own projects related to communicating the impact MCE has on the entrepreneurs and companies it works with and the impact those enterprises have on their local communities. In addition, the Associate will be an integral part of the business development function and be prepared to handle some of the more day-to-day tasks that keep MCE’s important work moving forward.

This position will report to and work closely with MCE’s Director of Business Development & Communications. This position will also interact frequently with MCE’s Chief Business Development Officer related to matters of business development operations and support MCE’s CEO on special projects as needed.

Specific Responsibilities Include:

Communicating our Impact (70%)
– Author and support other staff to create original content for MCE on a regular basis, including blog posts, articles and website content, and support securing external publication sources when appropriate
– Work closely with the Director to source and produce video content and written testimonials from portfolio clients in order to highlight and share their experiences and impact publicly, ensuring proper alignment to the branding, messaging, and tone of MCE and its partners
– Collect and document testimonials from portfolio staff about key learnings, challenges, and impact trends seen on the ground, that can be used to communicate our impact for both internal and external audiences
– Research and maintain a database of media contacts and support the MCE team in media outreach
– Design, update and maintain MCE’s marketing materials and presentation decks and other resources for business development
– Manage the development of MCE’s newsletters (writing, design, production, and distribution).
– Keep MCE’s website current with the latest portfolio and impact statistics, news, blogs, and other new content
– Schedule content across all media channels (primarily LinkedIn and blog) to promote MCE’s work and the impact of its portfolio partners

Business Development Operations (30%):

– Manage the entire Guarantor paperwork and onboarding process, from the beginning of a Guarantor’s relationship with MCE to the end, and maintain excellent records in MCE’s electronic filing system and Salesforce CRM
– Support business development team, including the CEO, in preparation for important external meetings and industry events through conducting desk research, providing summary briefings, designing draft presentations, and developing target lists for potential new investors, Guarantors, donors, and other stakeholders as assigned
– Support outreach to prospects, in collaboration with several other members of the team, through coordination of meetings, synthesis of meeting notes, drafting of communications, and prospect follow up
– Keep the Business Development team’s pipeline and current stakeholder information updated in Salesforce; create campaigns and input data in Salesforce as assigned


MCE is seeking a motivated self-starter with UP TO 5 years of communications experience, preferably with mission-driven organizations. The ideal candidate will be excited to work at a global organization and has the desire to be a key player on our growing team.

– Bachelor’s degree required; graduate degree a plus
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English required; Spanish strongly preferred
– Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and take initiative; ability to move projects forward amid competing demands for time and attention
– Exceptional attention to detail, organized and technologically proficient
– Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion; ability to maintain a high level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information
– Enthusiasm for learning, willingness to ask questions of supervisor and teammates in MCE’s fluid work environment and to accept and incorporate constructive feedback
– Experience using design software and/or generating ideas of info-graphics and visual assets
– Proficient in using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point) and Google Workspace required
– Ability and interest in learning key, web-based platforms such as Salesforce, Mailchimp and Squarespace
– Sense of humor and self-awareness
– Interest in impact investing and social entrepreneurship
