The Associate, Conference will help define and construct world class program content for the Women Deliver 2019 Conference in June 2019 in order to help make it a global game changer.

Under the supervision of the Senior Manager, Conference and in close collaboration with the Concurrent Sessions Manager and conference team, the Associate will support development of Concurrent Session content, including logistics, correspondence, and research for the Women Deliver 2019 Conference. The more than 100 planned concurrent sessions will focus on selected technical topics and solutions, and feature high-level speakers including heads of UN Agencies, heads of state, and high-level leaders from both the public and private sector. The Associate, Conference, would support the Concurrent Session Manager in implementing the strategy, themes and concepts for these sessions, liaising with organizing partners, and supporting all aspects of preparations for the sessions themselves.
Women Deliver is a leading global advocacy organization. We build capacity, forge partnerships, create networks, develop messages, and catalyze actions that spark political commitment and investment in the health, rights, and wellbeing of girls and women throughout the world. We bring together diverse voices and interests to share solutions and drive progress particularly in gender equality and maternal, sexual, and reproductive health and rights.
The Women Deliver 2019 Conference – the world’s largest gathering on gender equality and the health, rights, and wellbeing of girls and women – will serve as a fueling station for advocates working to achieve a more gender equal world. In the summer of 2019, over 6,000 world leaders, influencers, advocates, academics, activists, and journalists will convene in Vancouver to accelerate progress for girls and women everywhere.
This position is part of the Global Health Corps fellowship. Global Health Corps (GHC) is a leadership development organization focused on building the next generation of diverse, disruptive global health leaders. Founded in 2009, we competitively recruit talented professionals (ages 21-30) from a range of sectors and backgrounds and place them in high-impact roles within partner organizations — including Clinton Health Access Initiative, Partners in Health, Planned Parenthood Global, and Government Ministries in Zambia, Rwanda, and Uganda — working on the front lines of health equity in Malawi, Rwanda, Uganda, the US, and Zambia.
Liaise with the Women Deliver conference team and broader staff to realize a vision that connects the concurrent session program with the other parts of the conference and contributes to the whole conference overall; including collaboration with the Associate, Policy and Advocacy to coordinate content related to the Deliver for Good campaign
In consultation with the President/CEO; Senior Manager, Conference; and Concurrent Session Manager agree on and implement final strategy, theme, process, templates, and an interactive platform for the 2019 Solutions Panorama (for the 2016 version, visit: http://womendeliver.org/
Assist the Concurrent Sessions Manager in developing the final schedule to guide session allocation
Implement the timeline and adapt guidelines for organizers of sessions
Conduct in-depth research on topics, themes, and speakers, as needed
In collaboration with the communications team, identify online and app-based solutions for organizing and sharing concurrent session content
Manage day-to-day interaction with session organizers on the following: drafting, organizing and coordinating the outreach to session organizers for suggestions; collating the session proposals and maintaining the overview of sessions and speakers as they are completed; assessing the suggestions for sessions in the context of the overall strategy for the sessions; sending and tracking official speakers invitations; collecting speaker bios; tracking room and A/V requirements
Support the successful execution of the concurrent sessions on site at the Women Deliver 2019 Conference in Vancouver, Canada in June 2019 and be available for conference preparation, execution and wrap-up from mid-May through the end of the fellowship

Skills and Experience
Items indicated with an asterisk (*) are required:
Preferred: Master’s degree
Minimum two to three years of related, progressively responsible work experience*
Experience in large-scale event planning, management and/or logistics such as conferences, galas, campaigns, or similar events*
Excellent presentation, writing, editing, and proofreading skills*
Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel, and adept in creating professional PowerPoint presentations*
Must be highly organized, with a strong work ethic and attentive to detail*
Dependability and ability to maintain a professional and friendly demeanor and team spirit during periods of intense work is necessary*
Must be able to work proactively and independently, multi-task, and work under tight deadlines*
Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed*
French language fluency
Experience with interaction and communication with high-level officials or in settings that require diplomacy and political astuteness
Experience with project management and ability to handle multiple projects and tasks with frequently shifting priorities
Passion for gender equality and international development issues related to girls and women
