TAI´s mission is to empower people with disability out of poverty and exclusion in Africa.

Based in Kenya, TAI (www.tai.ngo) produces and distributes mobility, productivity, working assistive devices supporting persons with mobility disability in accessing autonomous mobility, self-development, income. Together with local partners, we also support persons with disability with Livelihood & Inclusion Programs which combine the provision of assistive devices with access to education, training, support to employment and self-employment, access to microcredit and microgrants.

TAI distributes assistive devices and implements its Livelihood & Inclusion Programs funded by Institutional Donors (USAID, UN Agencies, EU …), Family Foundations, CSR Programs, HNWI; we also supply our assistive devices to international development NGOs, so they can include persons with disability in their existing programs.

TAI is looking for a skilled and enthusiast business developer / fundraiser to take part in its further development, with main geographical focus is East Africa.

The position is ideally based in Nairobi, but other locations can be discussed.

The business developer / fundraiser will
• Research for prospect Family Foundations, CSR Programs, HNWI who focus on disability, and/or poverty alleviation in East Africa. Initiate, develop and manage the relationship with these donors
• Identify available funds/grants/calls from Institutional Donors for proposals focusing on disability and/or poverty alleviation. Write grant applications. Cultivate the relationship with Institutional Donors
• Research for prospect partner organizations in East Africa (e.g. CBOs, training centers, MFIs…) to include them as implementing partners in TAI Programs, or to collaborate with them in submitting grant applications for Livelihood & Inclusion Programs. Develop and manage the relationship with these partners
• Last but definitely not least: play a pillar role in laying out the business development and fundraising strategy for TAI

The business developer / fundraiser will report to TAI CEO and work in close collaboration with TAI CEO and TAI COO.

We are considering both junior and more senior candidates. Probably you are in between junior and senior, it is fine as well!

You are our ideal junior candidate if
• you are highly motivated in supporting low income people with disabilities in improving their life
• you have 2 years of experience in a similar role
• you are an excellent networker, you can develop professional relationship from scratch, may be you already have some network in the development space in East Africa
• you have some experience in writing institutional grants or at least you well understand their structure and requirements
• you have some experience in carrying on ground market research on the internet
• once you have strategic/planning directions, you have the spirit and the skills to bring their implementation from A to Z, from first meetings to funding agreement, under the guidance/with the help of the CEO (think about a project manager-project director relationship)
• you bring a lot of stamina and enthusiasm in the role
• you are super self-driven and autonomous in your work, you think of your work as ´your business´ which you are fully responsible for
• you frame your work in terms of objectives and results, you thrive in a star-up, dynamic environment
• you have a bachelor degree in a relevant subject

You are our ideal senior candidate if
• you are highly motivated in c
• you have 5 years of experience in a similar role AND you have a proven track record in developing donor relationships and in obtaining funds for NGOs / social businesses
• you have strong experience in successfully writing institutional grants
• you are an excellent networker, you are used to develop professional relationships from scratch, AND you bring with you a network in the development space, relevant to TAI fundraising goals, focus and geography
• you are fully confident in running on your own ´TAI business development show´ strategically and operationally, in close collaboration with the CEO
• you bring a lot of stamina and enthusiasm in the role, you thrive in a star-up, dynamic environment
• you have a bachelor degree in a relevant subject
