Overview

The Communications Associate will be responsible for helping to promote and communicate to new audiences and partners about Evidence Action’s work of measurably reducing the burden of poverty for hundreds of millions of people. The associate will work under the direction of our Senior Communications Manager and in coordination with multiple program teams for Dispensers for Safe Water, the Deworm the World Initiative, and Evidence Action Beta. These programs operate in 10 countries across the world and give the fellow the opportunity to collaborate with diverse teams on communicating key issues of alleviating poverty. The Communications Associate will help highlight accomplishments of Evidence Action’s work to social media audiences and the press, while also monitoring and responding to public interactions with our organization on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other social media platforms to address questions and concerns, and educate stakeholders on Evidence Action activities and impact.

Responsibilities

Drafting materials for use in digital communication, including but not limited to social media content, blog posts, and email copy
Drafting talking points, remarks, and guidelines for program teams and representatives to use in external communications
Producing opinion pieces for external publication
Media monitoring to track and respond rapidly to relevant conversations
Producing concept work for campaign collateral materials pertaining to our programs
Managing and updating communications strategies

Skills & Experience

Items indicated with an asterisk (*) are required

Bachelor’s degree*
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in public relations, journalism, or related field
Strong written communications skills*
Competence in popular forms of social media*
Proficiency in using personal computer and various office software packages including word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, calendaring, and email management*
Strong interpersonal skills*
Experience writing in a professional setting
Experience managing social media accounts in a professional setting
Experience contributing to the creation of marketing materials
Strong belief in the importance of evidence-based decision making
An interest in development economics and foreign aid
An ability to multi-task and track multiple projects
Interest in learning digital and/or graphic communications strategies
Sense of humor
