The Communications and Resource Mobilization Associate will be based in Zomba and plays a key role in developing and implementing Art & Global Health Center Africa’s (AGHCA) strategy around communications, partnership development and fundraising, with a particular focus on developing international connections. This role is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious, motivated person with a ‘can do’ attitude to build their experience of non-profit communications and development. As part of a small, dynamic, and collaborative team, the fellow will gain experience across a wide range of work areas and have real opportunities to innovate. We are looking for someone who thrives in a dynamic start-up environment, enjoys problem solving, working with limited resources, balancing multiple priorities, and sees the importance of communicating effectively and mobilizing resources to enable a small non-profit to have maximum impact.

Contribute to development and implementation of communications strategy
Develop stories about our work and impact for our website and external media and online media, with a particular focus on international media
Develop communications materials (e.g. print materials, short videos, annual report)
Develop engaging social media content
Research funders and potential partners
Develop and write grant proposals
Research and develop innovative revenue streams
Cultivate strong relationships with funders and partners
Support grant management and reporting

Skills & Experience

Items indicated with an asterisk (*) are required

Bachelor’s degree*
At least two years of experience in communications (e.g. PR, marketing, web, or social media management)*
Very strong writing skills, which will translate to an ability to write for a range of targets e.g. donors, project participants, media articles, online*
Comfort with common computer software like Microsoft Office*
Flexible and adaptable – enjoys working in a dynamic, varied environment and taking initiative*
Team player, excited to work with other people and enjoys collaborating with co-workers*
Experience in fundraising, preferably from a diverse range of sources e.g. grants, individual donors, fundraising events, contracted services from partner organizations
Experience either writing stories for or pitching stories to international media outlets
Graphic design skills, potentially including Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, and/or InDesign
Video production skills/experience
Website design/management experience
Passion for the arts for social change
Quick to learn to use new IT platforms and able to coach others to do the same
