Role Overview:

NationSwell is seeking a Community Director to drive engagement and impact with their dynamic national community. You will create, contribute to, and execute strategies that deepen engagement amongst their members and strengthen their connection to NationSwell. You will support community members in their purpose-led work, foster collaborations, and form partnerships that advance the collective impact of the NationSwell Council. You will have creative freedom in working with members, and driving impact-based projects, helping shape events, and contributing to NationSwell’s content.

How You’ll Contribute:

Manage a portfolio of members, build strong relationships, maintain regular contact, proactively and strategically collaborate to advance their work, foster community, and make connections to generate impact on social and environmental issues in the US.

Drive the member experience by uncovering and distilling each member’s unique needs, making strategic connections, and delivering ad hoc moments of value and delight with agile response to the needs of the member base.

Meet specific goals around member renewal, referrals, community engagement, cross-platform business opportunities, and overall member satisfaction

Embody a community culture in which members from different races, geographies, industries, and backgrounds feel immediately welcome and valued

Act as a strategic and operational lead on delivering and enhancing their membership product, ensuring their member experience reflects NationSwell’s mission and exceeds member expectations, regularly iterate your approach in response to member needs, and proactively make recommendations to improve the member experience and drive impact.

Continuously seek improvements to their offering, delivery, and internal ways of working. Work with the Council team to generate and propose new ideas that enhance member experience through programming, service, and engagement.

Apply member feedback and your knowledge of community management best-practices to drive innovation, drawing from external examples, and commit to ongoing learning

Collaborate closely with their Editorial, Council, Programming, and Studio teams to continually improve their cross-platform offerings and maximize the opportunity for members to connect with their institutional partners and Studio clients.

Meticulously track member engagement and impact in their CRM, embrace automation, analyze and apply data to adjust your approach, and inform their strategy. Prepare data and impact stories to be shared internally and externally.

Stay up to date on social and environmental issues in the US and apply your learnings to impact projects, events, written content, and your work with members.

Work with the team on cutting-edge event concepts and formats that foster inspiration, connection, and practical learnings.

Assist and take the lead in hosting events, facilitating round-table conversations, dinners, and other intimate gatherings in-person and virtually (with the utmost regard for your safety as they work through the pandemic).

Desired qualifications:

Background in community management or managing memberships

Proven ability to think strategically and draw connections between people and opportunities

Ability to manage executive-level relationships

Proven ability to manage multiple projects at a time while paying attention to detail, with the utmost respect for relationship capital

Excellent at oral and written communications, and presentation skills

A deep commitment to impact and driving critical change in the United States and beyond

Background in impact work within the third sector or public sector highly desired
