Key Responsibilities/Outcomes (include but are not limited to):

  • Manage the implementation of the USF’s adult engagement strategy by developing and monitoring goals and measurements
  • Manage and develop individual and team performance through ongoing supervision, guidance, planning, and evaluation
  • Work collaboratively with the Global Citizenship Fellowship Program and the Education and Youth Engagement departments to create holistic strategies for engaging communities
  • Oversee the development of employee, individual volunteer and other constituent engagement activities
  • Develop and enhance experiential activities to help constituents learn and experience UNICEF’s work and issues affecting children around the world
  • Support the development and implementation of training and professional development programs for staff
  • Support the implementation of the 4 prong advocacy strategy; work with the Office of Public Policy and Advocacy and others
  • Develop and manage new initiatives and pilot projects that advance the strategic goals of the department
  • Represent the organization at internal and external meetings and conferences, and on coalitions that advance the work of USF
  • Oversee consultants, and monitor work flow and contracts when appropriate
  • Manage departmental budget and oversee underwriting as appropriate
  • Maintain and develop relationships with high-level partners in the volunteer  and advocacy sectors
  • Identify funding sources to support long-term growth of engagement programs

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of seven years of experience in the areas of volunteerism, advocacy or engagement  program development
  • Familiarity and history developing and executing experiential activities and virtual engagement opportunities
  • Demonstrated interest in and knowledge of social justice and international development issues (essential); understanding of the work of the U.N. (desirable)
  • Strong commitment to the mission, goals and values of the USF
  • Prior experience with and connections to national networks and organizations in the global engagement, volunteerism,  and human rights fields
  • Demonstrated strategic planning and budget management experience
  • Exceptional planning and program management skills
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to effectively solicit, cultivate, and build relations with constituents and organizations
  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members as well as across departments to achieve goals and ensure organizational support for identified initiatives
  • Self-starter, highly motivated and results-oriented
  • Willingness to travel, domestic and international (occasional), and to work some evenings and/or weekends as necessary
