You will serve as an integral member of Agora’s management team, responsible for supporting strategic organizational planning and developing our overall fundraising strategy to meet financial goals. Agora is seeking a proven, organized and results-driven Development Director to spearhead raising funds to fuel an exciting period of scaling and expansion. Over the last 10 years, Agora Partnerships has built a strong reputation and foundation of support. We are now looking to hire our first dedicated Development Director to build out a comprehensive, sustainable fundraising strategy. You will focus on identifying and building relationships with new unrestricted institutional funders, developing an individual fundraising strategy, and expanding our existing successful cohort partnerships. Our current budget is $1.3M and is expected to exceed $2M by 2018.

You will be based in Agora’s downtown Washington, DC office reporting directly to the CEO and working with a small but dedicated team. Key responsibilities will include (but are not limited to) the following:
-Develop and lead organization-wide fundraising strategy (Develop, lead, and execute Agora’s unrestricted and programmatic fundraising strategies to support organizational mission and strategic priorities. Develop relationships with private and family foundations and build out an individual giving strategy.)
-Oversee all aspects of the fundraising process (Lead, coordinate, and oversee all aspects of the fundraising process including donor prospecting, pipeline and database management, proposal development, and donor communications)
-Develop proposals and donor communications (Write proposals and develop decks and one-pagers)
-Develop industry partnerships (Identify and develop partnerships with experts and funders around industry themes)
-Board Engagement (Work closely with CEO to engage, leverage, and attract Board members to bring resources to the organization)
-Attend and speak at global conferences, events, etc. (Find opportunities for yourself and the CEO to speak on panels and attend conferences/events to attract funders and disseminate Agora’s mission and vision with diverse audiences)
-Grant reporting (Responsible for timely and compelling grant reporting)
-Special Events (Oversee the planning and execution of special events)

We are looking for someone who is passionate about finding entrepreneurial solutions to our most pressing social challenges, and who wants to accelerate a new generation of entrepreneurs towards success. The successful candidate is driven by the desire to build effective fundraising strategies that leverage resources in support of Agora’s mission and engage Agora’s partners and supporters. The successful candidate must exhibit Agora’s core values of agency, empathy, curiosity and perseverance.

-Undergraduate degree (MA preferred) and 5+ years fundraising experience
-Proven track record of nonprofit fundraising experience, including major gifts from private and family foundations, corporations, individuals, and/or government agencies.
-Experience in donor cultivation, grant writing, fundraising events, and product development
-Experience working with donor databases; Salesforce experience preferred.
-English fluency, Spanish skills preferred but not required
-Knowledge of impact investing field and social entrepreneurship strongly preferred, as well as knowledge of Latin American  funding ecosystem
-Demonstrated ability to write clearly and persuasively; strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills with ability to influence and engage a wide range of donors.
-Ability to travel domestically and internationally for up to two weeks at a time
