As impact investors, they seek to foster social benefit alongside financial return. They recognize that achieving their values will require an intense reorganization of society, and thus the pursuit of multiple strategies — in addition to their core line of work pursuing transformative impact through investing, they also leverage traditional advocacy through active participation in activism campaigns, work with other organizations about how they can better align their money and values, and maintain a thriving presence in media to affect change.

They prioritize intersectional and systemic change approaches, both amongst their portfolio and within their advocacy work. Candide Group supports investments across all sectors, geographies, asset classes and stages – including direct investments and funds; debt and equity — as long as they believe there is a strong impact intervention, a viable financial case, and a team with the skills to execute. Over half their portfolio is led by people of color and women — in general, they have a strong commitment to equity and inclusion both within their team and the teams they invest in.

The position:

The past few years have been a time of phenomenal growth and development for Candide Group. They launched the Olamina Fund, a $40M debt vehicle creatively providing access to capital to women and communities of color, onboarded a number of new advisory clients, and added 15-20 new investee relationships to their clients’ combined portfolios every year.

With their investment and advocacy activity increasing in scope, pace and complexity, they are seeking their full-time Digital Communications Associate to support Candide Group in:

Illuminating social impact and significant happenings across their business to a range of stakeholders;

Optimizing and managing the firm’s digital presence via multiple communications channels, with the goal of contributing to;

An increased drive in aligned capital toward current and future investees;

A more clear and deepened role in the ecosystem toward changing the culture of money for good;

Researching and messaging on key areas of interest for Candide at the intersection of money and social justice, supporting blog posts, newsletters, and other communications.

Responsibilities will fall in the following areas:

1. Creating

Support Director of Impact (Jasmine Rashid) in curating, refining, and publishing digital content — such as Candide Group tweets, quarterly newsletters, press releases, impact reports, and website updates;

Support Founding Partner (Morgan Simon) in her social media content, including publishing and sharing her articles across all of her social media platforms, and supporting article production processes;

Over time, support Director of Impact in creating a Branding and Communications guide for the firm.

2. Optimizing

Track KPIs and implement strategies like SEO to increase user engagement and following, for both Candide Group’s twitter and Morgan Simon’s social media platforms (Twitter, Linkedin, Facebook, Instagram);

Improve and manage their mailing list.

3. Organizing

Secure pre-publishing approval for all communications from their Chief Compliance Officer;

Archive all communications and supporting documents for posterity;

Digital Ecosystem Nurturing

Collaborate with peer organizations in supporting advocacy campaigns via social media.

The ideal candidate:

Has experience translating big ideas and news into digestible and memorable content, across multiple digital platforms for a diversity of audiences;

Enjoys close collaboration with various stakeholders in a small organization, while also comfortable in setting their own agenda for the day;

Loves a workday that balances creative work and administrative, organizational work;

Possess high emotional intelligence and interpersonal communication skills, and a commitment to equity and social change;

The following are a plus, but not required —

Spanish language proficiency;

Video production and editing skills;

Familiarity with financial terminology;

Experience in social justice organizing and messaging.

Location: Based in the Bay Area. This is currently a remote position, with some in-person Oakland meetings required throughout the year.

Reporting to: Director of Impact

Start Date: Between September 15th and October 1st, 2021

Hours, Compensation, and Benefits: This is a full-time position with a salary of $70,000, as well as benefits including healthcare and a socially responsible retirement fund.
