Having built REPP into a strong success story, Camco is now entering a new and exciting phase as we build on our position as a leading climate and ESG investor in emerging markets. To that effect, we have launched REPP 2, a USD 250m private debt fund that invests in Africa’s distributed and small-scale renewable energy sector.

Role

The East Africa Regional Manager will oversee the origination, execution and monitoring of investments in the East African region for the REPP 2 fund. This individual will play a critical role in identifying high- impact renewable energy opportunities, managing relationships with key stakeholders and ensuring successful investments.

In this position, you will take a leading role in:

Investment origination and execution

  • Identify, assess and prioritise investments in renewable energy opportunities in East Africa, aligned with REPP 2’s investment strategy and impact objectives.
  • Conduct due diligence, including financial modelling, risk assessment and technical

Regional representation and stakeholder engagement

  • Serve as Camco’s primary point of contact in East Africa for REPP 2, representing the organisation to governments, investors, developers and local communities.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with local developers, NGOs and other
  • Advocate for renewable energy policies and programmes that align with Camco’s
  • Provide thought leadership by publishing insights, participating in industry events and contributing to Camco’s strategic planning.

Team leadership and collaboration

  • Lead a regional team of associates and analysts, providing mentorship and professional development opportunities.
  • Collaborate with other regional managers and the global Camco team to share insights, strategies and best practices.

Portfolio management

  • Monitor the performance of active investments in the region, ensuring compliance with financial, operational and impact objectives.

Requirements

We’re seeking an individual with extensive experience who is ready to take the next step in their career and become a key partner in driving the growth and development of a leading climate and impact fund manager.

Candidates should:

  • Possess excellent commercial and finance capability, including understanding different renewable energy business models and financial models and negotiating and executing debt investments and, to a lesser extent, hybrid investments.
  • Demonstrate a passion for impact investing and developing markets, with experience in developing countries considered an asset.
  • Hold a degree in business, economics, finance, accounting, engineering or similar relevant
  • Have 7+ years of practical experience in a similar role; industry experience is desirable.
  • Have good written and oral communication skills in English; proficiency in French is a plus.
  • Be a strong team player with the ability to work independently and handle a variety of matters in a fast- paced environment.
  • Be willing to travel.
