Eden House is a movement to eradicate the trafficking and selling of human beings. We create systemic change through: youth prevention; education and legislative advocacy; and recovery and reentry services for victims, including long-term shelter. Eden House is expanding our long-term residential recovery services for human trafficking survivors to include an Emergency Center. With this expansion, we are rebranding to “Eden Center for Hope and Healing.” The Eden Emergency Center (EC) is an emergency center based on a low barrier, Housing First model. EC will provide 30 days of overnight housing for
female-identifying survivors of trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation. EC will provide Housing First services for both female and male survivors who need longer term housing options. EC services and programs are trauma-informed and healing centered. Emergency Center Support Staff provide overnight and weekend coverage to the EC. This position is essential to the smooth operation of the EC and to coordination between overnight and daytime staff. EC will hire 4persons on a part time basis to fill a total of 8 shifts – 6 night time shifts and 2 daytime shifts. The assignment of shifts will depend on the needs of the guests and clinical staff of the EC and on the availability of the support staff hired. Support staff are members of the clinical team and work closely
with the clinical staff in implementing clinical components of the emergency center program. Support Staff will report to the Clinical Director. Support staff will:

● serve as a role model to guests as to appropriate behavior within the EC,
● ensure guests’ safety at all times,
● assist guests in developing social and functional skills that are part of their recovery and
healing-centered engagement,
● encourage guests to engage in setting goals that meet their current and future needs.

Additional Information

Responsibilities Include:

● Provide overnight and weekend screening of applicants and enter initial intake information in the case management system (CMS).
● Review case notes from day staff entered in the CMS.
● Model EC values of trauma-informed and healing centered engagement in interactions with guests.
● Provide motivation and emotional support.
● Respond to guests’ needs as appropriate.
● Model effective coping techniques and self-help strategies.
● Practice conflict resolution and communication skills.
● React immediately in emergency situations – call 911, etc. – as outlined in the policy manual.
● Call clinical staff for advice or backup, as needed.
● Monitor emergency center expectations:
o curfew
o quiet hours
o general behavior
o neatness and cleanliness of common area
● Maintain a list of supplies needed.
● Enter the following into the CMS: progress notes, important observations related to individual guest’s behavior, any incidents that occurred during overnight/weekend shifts that may be of concern or need follow up by daytime staff.
● Participate in staff meetings as needed.
● Other duties as needed and assigned.

Hiring Qualifications – At least one of the following:

○ Self-identified as person with lived experience/survivor of similar circumstances and
1 year experience working in a residential setting or with the survivor/homeless population
○ Person with 3 years’ experience working in a residential setting or with survivor/homeless
population
○ Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) or in process of becoming certified with full
certification obtained by start date of employment
○ Other relevant certification or BA degree in social science field

Preferences:

○ Demonstrated interest and knowledge of human trafficking/sex work, trauma, addiction, addiction recovery
○ Knowledge of and experience with conflict resolution and de-escalation strategies
○ Knowledge of 12 step programs (AA, NA)

Additional Requirements:

○ Background check; clean drug screen upon offer of employment
○ Ability to maintain personal boundaries
○ Beginning knowledge of technology and aptitude for learning case management data system
○ Ability to lift 10 pounds
○ Driver’s license, insurance, and clean driving record
