Impact Angel Alliance (IAA) and Network of Angel Organizations-Ontario (NAO-Ontario) are growing organizations looking for a highly motivated individual to join the team as a part-time Development Director. The Part-time Development Director will have the opportunity to work with IAA and NAO-Ontario and ecosystem partners to ensure the continued growth of Ontario’s Angel Investing ecosystem. They will also have the opportunity to expand their network of strategic and public grant makers as well as interact with Canada’s most exciting impact ventures and investors.The part-time Development Director will primarily be responsible for identifying and developing fundraising opportunities and strategies to maximize returns for IAA and NAO-Ontario. This role will also involve strategic grant writing and other materials that are responsive to donor guidelines.
This is a part-time (1-2 days a week) contract position available starting January 5th or shortly thereafter, and continuing through March 31, 2016, with expected contract renewal contingent on continued government funding for IAA beyond March 31, 2016. Base compensation will be negotiated based on prior experience, track record and references, and may include a commission-based component. Any pre-approved expenses incurred by the candidate will be reimbursed by IAA and/or NAO-Ontario.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will be working in a fast-paced, dynamic, performance-driven work environment and will primarily be responsible for:
Developing a fundraising strategy and objectives to maximize returns;
Researching and identifying public, private, strategic fundraising opportunities;
Preparing and writing letters of interest, grant proposals, reports, acknowledgement letters and other materials that are responsive to donor guidelines, including assembling required documentation and budgets;
Coordinating with staff to ensure consistent language, staying “on brand” and leveraging communications opportunities;
Obtain, retain and manage special event & program sponsors
Keeping staff aware of upcoming deadlines; and
Other related tasks as may be required.
SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS
The successful candidate will be self directed, entrepreneurial, adaptive and exhibit the following:
Previous grant writing or general development experience;
Familiarity with corporate and foundation donors;
Familiarity with government funding agencies;
Strong attention to detail and exceptional writing, editing and verbal communications skills;
An ability to manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment;
Event sponsorship experience
An interest in the intersection of the impact and venture capital spaces; and
An interest in building an organization from the ground up.
