1,1 billion people don’t have access to clean drinking water. 1,3 billion people don’t have access to electricity. 1,7, billion people don’t have access to basic medical care. 4 billion people, more than half of the world population, live in poverty. Inclusive business models offer the opportunity to improve the lives of the poor. Inclusive Business models provide goods, services, and livelihoods on a commercially viable basis, either at scale or scalable, to people at the ‘base of the economic pyramid,’ making them part of the value chain of companies’ core business as suppliers, distributors, retailers, or customers.
The Inclusive Business Action Network (iBAN) is a global initiative supporting the scaling and replication of inclusive business models. iBAN manages the largest global online knowledge platform (iBAN blue) on inclusive business and offers a focused Capacity Development Programme (iBAN weave) for selected companies and policymakers in developing and emerging countries. A special focus is set on Africa and Asia.

Your tasks:
– Coordination of iBAN activities in selected African countries
– Management of capacity development program for companies and policy makers
Development of new partnerships with relevant stakeholder (bi- and multilateral donors, associations,networks)
– Identification and development of innovative themes (e.g. blended finance, social bonds) for internal and external discourse on inclusive business
– Subject-specific support of the preparation and implementation of the peer-learning format and webinars
– Development of knowledge products for fora, chats, blogs and publications
– Contribution to the monitoring and evaluation system for IB models (Impact Measurements)
– Close cooperation with research institutes and other actors of the IB ecosystem and relevant programs and entities of the German development cooperation
– External representation of the project, participation in conference and events
– Contribution to the reporting to the EU and the German Ministry for economic cooperation and development

Your profile:
– A university degree in economics, political or social sciences
– Many years of relevant work experiences in international development, preferably in the private or financial sector in Africa
– Several years experiences with the implementation of innovative finance models, ideally in the field of impact investment
– Excellent and proven knowledge in the field of inclusive business, finance and private sector development
– Preferable work experiences in at least one of the following sectors: renewable energies, primary health care, agricultural value chains or education
– Experience in the field of capacity building with different stakeholders (political and private sector)
– High advisory capacity and strong negotiation skills
– Strong personal and intercultural competences, as well as problem-solving skills and an analytical strategic way of thinking
– Excellent English and German languages skill; knowledge of other languages (especially French) are an asset
