About Start Up!
Start Up! is an incubator, impact accelerator, and leadership springboard to social entrepreneurs. Based in New Delhi, India, we launch, strengthen, and scale social ventures that create lasting impact in underserved communities.
What We Do
As an incubator, we work with early-stage social entrepreneurs to launch ventures that create deep impact. We also incubate incubators!
As an impact accelerator, we facilitate growth-stage entrepreneurs to scale their models and drive large-scale systemic change.
As a leadership springboard, we train and coach unique leaders for the sector whose potential is yet unrecognized and untapped.
Previous Start Up! Fellows have engaged in partner projects such as:
· Drafting an operational plan for a crafts organization in New Delhi
· Developing a business plan for apple farmers in Uttarakhand
· Conducting a landscape assessment of a community-led rural health organization with operations in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Assam
· Supporting an impact assessment for a migrant laborer wealth management model in Rajasthan
Call for Start Up! 2018 Fellows
Start Up! is looking for entrapreneurial Fellows to engage with leading social entrepreneurs across India. Ideal candidates are keen to experience social change in action and are eager to develop both internal projects for Start Up! while also sharpening social entrepreneur-led projects in the field. Fellows will engage with both internal and partner projects that may be of their interests and/or skill areas. Our partners are typically social entrepreneurs with innovative ideas in the fields of livelihoods, education, health and arts/culture.
Reporting to: Director
Location: New Delhi, India
Duration: 3-6 months (based on availability)
Work arrangement: Full-time
Remuneration: Cumulative monthly stipend of up to INR 20,000
Actively engage in building viable social change models for Start Up! partners.
Support the Start Up! team in scale-based consulting partner projects.
Develop project case studies to assess and evaluate the impact of their ventures and the impact of Start Up’s incubation of their models.
Research and develop in-house incubation toolkits for Start Up! social entrepreneurs.
Develop sector maps to build intelligence on key trends, challenges, and players in the eco-system.
Build communication and social media strategies for Start Up! as well as its clients and partners.
Knowledge, skills and attributes required
Willingness and enthusiasm to learn and engage with social change models, both for-profit and not-for-profit.
Self-starter with a strong work ethic.
Strong problem solving, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
Strong communication skills.
Ability to multi-task and handle deadlines across two or more projects.
Ability and willingness to adhere to timelines.
Excellent skills in MS Office/equivalent applications, especially MS Excel, MS Word and MS PowerPoint.
Knowledge of written and spoken English; knowledge of additional Indian languages will be a plus.
Willingness to travel to rural India.
Minimum education qualification and work experience requirements
Fellows from academic backgrounds and training in business management, economics, international development and other related domains will be preferred.
Prior experience with a social enterprise will be an advantage; Individuals with 3+ years of work experience will be given priority.
We accept applications on a rolling basis, across the year. Candidates interested in beginning their Fellowship in Summer 2018 should apply by June 11, 2018. We will review applications on a rolling basis and contact shortlisted candidates for interviews by June 18, 2018. Fellowships will be awarded by July 1, 2018 and those selected can begin their Fellowships as early as possible.
