COVIDCheck Colorado (CCC) is a social benefit enterprise of the Gary Community Investments Company. Their mission is to empower their partners to return safely to the community and enable the most proactive and equitable response to COVID-19 in the country. Since July 2020, we have facilitated over 250,000 COVID-19 tests in the state of Colorado, been tapped as one of CDPHE’s leading community testing partners, and served nearly 100 client organizations ranging from grassroots community organizations to major public sector clients and Fortune 50 companies.

The General Counsel reports to Emily Baron, COVIDCheck’s Chief Public Health Officer, daily activities will include:
Manage the CCC legal team, including co-counsel, paralegals, and interns
Draft contracts for CCC
Manage negotiations as needed with vendors, partners, and clients
Advise CCC’s senior leadership team on questions of strategy, risk mitigation, and growth

Required skills:
Knowledge of contract, liability, and data privacy law, including HIPAA and FERPA
Preferred: Knowledge of Colorado and federal health care law and policy
Active license to practice law

Preferred: admission to the Colorado bar
Exceptional communication skills and emotional intelligence
Ability to work across business lines and teams to mobilize resources for impact
Ability to manage up effectively
Ability to synthesize quickly large volumes of information and work across diverse sectors
Relentless attention to detail
Enthusiasm for working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven start-up environment

3-5 years experience in corporate, transactional, or health care law or commensurate experience in relevant sectors (biotech, software development, public-private partnerships)

Their team is based in Denver, CO, they are open to remote workers. This is a full time, benefits eligible role, with a competitive salary. Ideal start date in early January 2021.
