ROLE CONTEXT

As a global community of changemakers, Impact Hub is in the pursuit of systemic impact at a global scale. For us impact is the net positive effect that our actions have on our members, the surrounding community and environment. Impact-oriented efforts at Impact Hub focus on drafting an Impact Strategy that gives common purpose to our businesses and local initiatives, providing tools for measurement and evaluation, and analysing our progress towards fulfilling our mission. Over the course of the last year Impact Hub Network underwent through a process of upgrading and refining its Theory of Change and currently working on aligning and tracking global network metrics and performance.

One of the key projects we do in the impact area is an annual Global Member Survey (GMS) which is our main tool for tracking our members’ impact in society and our impact on our members’ activities. Going into its 4th edition in 2016 and with more than 40 Impact Hubs participating, this survey is also useful for getting a deeper understanding of who the people in our community are and what type of business do they do. Just as equally important is integrating the results and key findings from this survey into local and global strategies and continuously improving our services and offering towards the members. The survey questions are co-designed by the global Impact team and our academic partner from the Vienna University of Economics and Business, while the results and analysis are done and validated entirely by our academic partner. Having reached 2,000 member responses last year we are looking forward to increasing this number next year; deepening the impact tracking practice within our community; and further expanding our support and training offerings towards the makers.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Impact Coordinator’s main responsibilities will be:

In coordination and strategic alignment with Impact Lead:

  • Community building and leadership around impact measurement practice: continue building and maintaining the community of impact trackers/measurement/strategic data users across Impact Hub.
  • Global Member Survey Project Coordination: in alignment with Impact Lead, Research Lead and Network Performance Lead, coordinating and overseeing the process for Network’s annual Global Member Survey which usually runs in the first half of the year.
  • Capacity building & development: design and deliver relevant training & development engagements for network makers in order to support and deepen the level of understanding, competence and practice in impact evaluation and measurement.
  • External outreach such as research, collection and distribution of relevant external impact related opportunities and expertise for the network.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Community building and leadership around impact measurement practice:
    • Attract and engage community membership; set up platforms and tools and ensure on-going maintenance.
    • Lead the ongoing activities of the impact measurement community of practice in partnership with local champions and external content providers(Impact Measurement CoP): Align and engage with other communities of practice: to bring forward network’s impact measurement data into relevant conversations and projects (i.e. host quarterly thematic webinars with CoP.
  • Global Member Survey Project Coordination:
    • Understand and familiarise with the content of the Global Member Survey in order to be able to lead the dissemination of the survey results in the second quarter.
    • Understand and use survey content platform and offering support to Research Lead and Impact Lead in its set-up and usage.
    • Oversee and coordinate the network’s participation in the Global Member Survey (community reach-out and recruitment).
    • Coordinate members engagement campaign around Global Member Survey and help produce and design relevant engagement campaign content with the support and production leadership from the Communications team.
    • Forge collaborations and enable inter-Hub participation and engagement around increasing survey participation and data usage.
  • Capacity building & development:
    • Be available for 1:1 strategic support and consultations for local Impact Hubs and/or designing training & development mechanisms for Impact Hubs to access customised support to their needs
      • e. via global and regional gatherings, dedicated thematic events, online webinars/case studies, experts consultations (internal/external) etc.
    • Design the dissemination formats and campaigns for Global Member Survey results reports and their embedment into local Impact Hub strategies.
  • External outreach:
    • research, identify, collect and distribute external opportunities and innovative initiatives in impact strategy & measurement in collaboration with Impact Lead – help facilitate the dialogue and bring new external expertise if not found in the network (i.e. organize 1-3 topical webinars with external guests on topics sources from network)

ARE WE A MATCH?

  • You are already familiar with Impact Hub’s current Global Impact processes OR have previous experience in similar activities/organizations
  • You are passionate about and immersed into relevant topics, developments and conversations in the field of impact measurement in social enterprise
  • You have a basic experience and understanding of impact measurement field
  • You have experience with designing and delivering educational formats and learning curriculums
  • You are a superior communicator with the ability to work across all levels in an organization and have experience in building practitioner communities (physically and online)
  • You possess strong leadership and project management, skills
  • You are comfortable interacting with several stakeholders and able to work collaboratively within international, multidisciplinary and distributed “virtual” teams
  • You have analytical nature and good use of data skills, as well as excellent user skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and have delivered project with one of the widely used project management tools
  • You happen to have experience or ability to learn creative and visual data representation techniques/methods/tools/programmes (i.e. Infogram, Piktochart, video, creative ppt, etc.)
  • You are open-minded, self-reliant, and excited about being part of a diverse, fast-paced, international environment
  • You are able to demonstrate key components of the Impact Hub approach: entrepreneurship, collaboration, innovation and exceptional execution ability

JOB SPECIFICATION

  • Role: full-time
  • Reporting to: Impact Lead
  • Location: high preference for working from Impact Hub Berlin, alternatively willing to relocate to Berlin or at least be in a position to plan frequent and affordable travel to Berlin
  • Period: starting as soon as possible and latest 15 Nov 2015; initial contract for 12 months with 3 months’ probation period, extension possibility pending project outcomes and individual performance.
  • Recognition: 2,500-3,000 EURO monthly gross salary (depending on the level of experience); employment offer if based in or relocating to Germany/Austria (working permit for the EU required); contractor relationship if outside Germany/Austria
