Acumen is seeking a seasoned institutional/foundations fundraiser with an established reputation and network to build relationships with international institutions working to help the poor transform their lives. You will report directly to the Chief of Business Development.

Responsibilities include:
+ Design and execute a fundraising strategy for large institutional foundations (priorities, strategies, work phases, targets, timelines)
+ Drive fundraising activities to achieve organization goals within this channel: steward current relationships; identify and approach new prospects for cultivation and solicitation
+ Build and manage relationships with target foundations
+ Develop strategic account plans, while partnering effectively with relevant internal stakeholders
+ Partner with leaders across the organization to demonstrate Acumen’s strength and value proposition
+ Build capabilities and tools to manage institutional foundation relationships at scale (e.g., account planning, grant writing, annual calendar)
+ Represent Acumen at key industry conferences and events
+ Write and coordinate funding proposals
+ Oversee feedback from and reporting to foundation partners

+ Candidates for the Head of Business Development: Foundations role should have a passionate commitment to Acumen’s mission and business model.
+ Given Acumen’s entrepreneurial culture, you must be a self-starter who thrives under tight deadlines, is curious and analytical, and is comfortable managing both within and across teams.
+ This position is for someone with the maturity, creativity, and nuance required to develop a shared vision, goals, and funding agreements with institutional/foundation partners.
+ You are an intellectually curious, detailed-oriented, savvy communicator who is comfortable with launching and supporting fundraising campaigns.
+ You have a strategic view and with a thoughtful approach in seeking out new relationships with foundations/institutions.  You are skilled in developing meaningful partnerships, with a proven track record in engaging partners, inspiring them to support your work and further building the relationship for the long-term.
+ You can provide assistance to colleagues doing the same by playing a key support role to other team members when needed. We have a small and energetic team, and this is a roll-up-your-sleeves kind of role.
+ Acumen seeks someone who is flexible, a problem solver, who knows how to push the envelope, and is an incredibly fast learner.

+ 10+ years’ experience in a similar or related role, with extensive knowledge of global institutional/foundation fundraising.
+ A proven track record of successful fundraising; building generative relationships, establishing shared goals, and securing resources for the long haul.
+ A strategic view: an ability to grasp the entirety of the Acumen ecosystem – its purpose, its history, the myriad of stakeholders, its emerging direction, and the goals that support that direction.
+ An ability to operationalize that strategic view by developing institutional/foundation partners with a shared agenda.
+ An understanding of the international development space and key players.
+ A sophisticated understanding of people and their motivations to deepen relationships, create opportunities, and motivate others.
+ An effective communicator and natural “connector” with a demonstrated ability to work with people at all levels to advance Acumen’s mission.
+ Excellent writing and communication skills.
+ Bachelor\’s Degree is required
+ Permanent authorization to work in the U.S.
