Specific Responsibilities

 

·       Overall leadership of the day-to-day financial and control operations of the company, including internal and external financial reporting, planning and analysis, accounting, financial policy development, budgeting, and management of finance/accounting staff including Country Finance Managers in Kenya and South Sudan. (estimated 30% of time allocation)

·       Oversee project to upgrade accounting systems, and integration with the company’s other management information systems. (20%)

·       Lead the company’s forecasting, financial modeling, and budgeting. (15%)

·       Conduct financial and economic analysis to identify opportunities for revenue growth, cost reduction, and systems enhancement; and support management in establishing KPIs. (15%)

·       Design and implement improved internal control systems, with particular emphasis on inventory management. (15%)

·       Oversee annual audit. Ensure that effective internal controls are in place and reporting is in compliance with Kenyan law. (5%)

 

Qualifications

 

·       Prior experience: Degree in accounting, finance or a relevant field; CPA or Master’s Degree is a strong advantage. 5+ years experience in financial management.

·       Skills:

o   Strategic leader with strong grasp of core financial concepts, including cost accounting, reporting, revenue recognition, financial modeling, and forecasting.

o   Experience or knowledge about FMCG companies would be a strong advantage.

o   Experience in using financial software such as QuickBooks is essential, and experience using other software to manage inventory and CRM is a strong advantage.

o   Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and manage well at all levels of the organization and with staff at remote locations essential.

o   Strong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.

o   High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.

  • Languages: English. Swahili an advantage.

 

Compensation and Benefits

 

Monthly Salary:

Negotiable around KES 350,000/mo. ($4,000)

Additional performance incentives including performance bonuses and participation in ESOP
