You are an experienced medical professional seeking an off-the-grid job in a sustainable community. You enjoy guiding university aged adults in best practices in self-care and tropical disease prevention in a tropical environment. You think in terms of prevention and have experience addressing common easily spread diseases. You have worked in remote wilderness situations and thrive in a community setting. Outside of community nurse responsibilities, you will work with staff to set guidelines in hiking and emergency planning.

Adaptable and comfortable living in a tropical setting off-the-grid and interacting positively with other KY staff
Experience practicing medicine in tropical and/or backcountry settings
Demonstrated resourcefulness in problem solving and maximizing resources
Strong organizational and communication skills
Fluent in Spanish, strongly preferred but not required, willingness to learn a plus
Regular work hours are from 8am to 4pm Monday through Friday.
This position regularly requires long hours and frequent weekend work.
Will be on call 24 hours when on-site
Dispense over-the-counter medications to students and guests as appropriate
Assess students, staff and guests who are ill or injured and determine if further medical attention is needed
Assist in stabilizing students, staff and guests requiring transportation to medical facilities
Contact parents of ill or injured students(if appropriate) and update them as necessary
Clear and accurate documentation of all injuries and care rendered
Submit all required company reports on time
Create a budget for medical supplies each semester and maintain inventory of medical supplies
Keep track of patients requiring follow-up visits for medical care
Collaborate with other medical support staff and administration for: on call schedule, safety guidelines for hikes and operations
Collaborate with student services in organising health promotion activities
Train new staff in CPR/AED/First aid
Wilderness First Responder or other medical training
Manual vehicle/4×4 experience

$2,000 per month
Bonus based on performance review and company financial performance
Room + Board in our tropical wilderness camp
6 weeks paid vacation yearly, 2 weeks accrued semesterly after 3 month probationary period
