Healthy Market Internship

Position Description


Martha’s Table Food Program provides help to vulnerable populations by providing lunch and dinner daily to hundreds of homeless and low-income people, groceries and weekday meals to children and youth in our programs. This internship position will primarily focus on the support and implementation of Martha’s Table’s Joyful Food Market initiatives in addition to general administrative support for the food and nutrition programs.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support the Director, Healthy Markets in the day to day contact and management of the Joyful Food Markets
  • Assist in transporting food to and from markets
  • Create flyers to promote school and community markets
  • Search for new locations and establish new contacts to promote markets
  • Function as a liaison between school contacts and Martha’s Table
  • Help organize food storage
  • Maintain an up-to-date contact list for all market stakeholders
  • Update donation and food count sheets weekly
  • Assist in the creation of a healthy recipe book
  • Assist in other administrative duties as needed

Desired Qualifications

  • One or more years education at an accredited college or university
  • Experience in handling administrative duties
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office programs and particularly skilled Word and Excel
  • Interest in social work and community building.

Schedule & Dress Code

  • Desired schedule is Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, from 9am – 4pm and

Saturday from 11am – 2pm

  • Dress code: Casual, closed-toed, comfortable shoes

Internship Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Drivers license preferred, but not required
