finEQUITY is a community-sourced financial technology organization. We are a nonprofit with a mission to build a digital road from prison to financial prosperity. In doing that work, we advance the financial futures of families impacted by mass incarceration. Our first product, not our last: an innovative way for recently released community members to establish a healthy credit score so that they can access affordable housing, phones, utilities, cars, and more. Our loan program, which was piloted in New York in 2021, is set to expand in 2022-2023 to 14 states. We see ourselves as contributing online tools to fight against the collateral consequences of incarceration and combat both racial and economic inequality. In the future, we will focus on addressing barriers to employment and families managing criminal justice debt. For more information, please visit

About the Role:
You’ll advise our Executive Director on the administration of human resources policies and procedures.
You’ll help us design and implement onboarding, offboarding, and fringe benefits systems, contribute to the hiring of 2-3 staff, and create processes that engender internal cohesion and team stability for the long term.
This is part-time (5-15 hours of work) lasting for about 3-5 months with an hourly minimum rate of $55.
Start Date: on or before April 1st

About you/Qualifications:
You have extensive experience as an HR professional working in the US 501(c)3 non-profit sector (preferably the tech or justice sector). You are particularly familiar with New York State onboarding and offboarding laws.
You have extensive experience managing an interview process (i.e. sourcing candidates, with more emphasis on screening and interviewing candidates).
You’re a team player with excellent communication and leadership skills.
You’re comfortable working with a remote/distributed team (i.e. you have prior experience and excelled in that experience).
You are able to manage a balance of strategic planning and tactical execution.
You have experience in supporting new hires both as it relates to getting acclimated and advancing and understanding their progress toward their work objectives.
Your special sauce: If you do not meet all the requirements above, tell us in your application why you’d still be a great fit for the role.

Nice to Have
You have experience in designing and implementing meaningful internal policies and performance reviews for a small team.
Comfortable with collaborative work tools.
