Position Summary
Acumen is looking for an Innovation Associate to support our Chief Innovation Officer across all aspects of his role. Responsibilities will range from logistical support and project coordination to thought partnership with the CIO in driving Acumen’s voice in the sector. The Chief Innovation Officer oversees Acumen’s investments in leadership and ideas; our leadership work takes the form of various Fellows Programs and our online leadership academy, +Acumen. Our investment in the generation and spread of Ideas manifests in our Impact and Marketing teams. First and foremost, you are an entrepreneurial self-starter and a team player. You are the kind of person who will excel at balancing the strategic and tactical responsibilities of this role. You are a superior writer and editor who is excellent at execution and possesses a strong attention to detail. You are energetic and passionate about Acumen’s mission, and you are excited by a fast-paced, collaborative work environment. You have a high degree of emotional intelligence and the capacity to build trust with diverse groups of people. You feel comfortable weighing and executing against competing priorities, a skill for integrating seamlessly into communication flows, and gravitas to coordinate multiple projects and stakeholders while displaying smarts, grace, humor and calm under pressure.

Writing & Communications
+ Serve as primary point of contact for content creation, writing and editing with the Chief Innovation Officer
+ Manage external communications from the Chief Innovation Officer, ensuring synthesis of priority areas within the Innovation function
+ Support the CIO’s thought leadership by vetting meetings and speaking opportunities
+ Assist with writing slide presentations and speeches, as well as working collaboratively with key members of the Communications and Marketing team to ensure alignment and synchronicity of messaging

Project Management, Operations, & Logistics
+ Manage all work-streams across the Innovation function, ensuring that key deliverables are met on time
+ Maintain the CIO’s strategic priorities and identify opportunities for collaboration across the Innovation function and with other teams at Acumen
+ Ensure that the CIO’s time is allocated effectively and that all meetings, both internal and external, are reflective of priority areas; manage the schedule of the Chief Innovation Officer to maximize productivity
o Coordinate and communicate with senior management and team member schedules to ensure monthly management meetings, weekly check-ins and other internal meetings
o Take ownership of all logistics related to the CIO’s domestic and international travel (including flight and hotel bookings)
+ Work alongside the Chief Innovation Officer to project manage the different components of Acumen’s Leadership work, specifically within the Regional Fellows program
+ Coordinate relationship management for the Chief Innovation Officer both internally and externally
+ Conduct research and prepare talking points to ensure that the Chief Innovation Officer is adequately prepared for all meetings

+ 2-4 years’ experience; academic or professional experience in global development, social enterprise, or leadership development strongly preferred
+ Strong project management and analytical skills; a demonstrated ability to take primary responsibility for a diverse number of projects and to complete them in a timely manner with limited supervision
+ Superior written and oral communication skills
+ Proven ability to think both strategically and tactically, ensuring both big picture and smaller-scale assignments are performed with excellence; flawless execution in all assignments
+ Familiarity with the macro environment for the impact investing and social enterprise sectors
+ Good judgment, poise and discretion related to senior executives
+ Proven mastery of Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
+ Bachelor’s Degree required
+ Must be authorized to work in the United States

+ Ability to assert influence in ensuring deadlines are met and management team stays on track to critical deliverables or administrative timelines
+ Interest and experience in using technology to improve work efficiency; additional expertise in troubleshooting technological problems a plus
