You are a social capitalist who believes entrepreneurship is critical to shaping an environmentally and socially responsible world.  You have experience in alternative education, startups and Latin America.You’ve led teams to success, you’re comfortable in a startup environment and the thought of living in the middle of a tropical rainforest energizes you. You view problems as opportunities and have a great sense of humor. You love making ideas happen. You are comfortable being the face of the institute, giving speeches, being interviewed, and communicating complex ideas to internal and external media outlets.

You are responsible for Kalu Yala Institute’s academics, student services, operations and incubator. You will need to support (and develop) the management team, interact and mentor students, lead hiring efforts with HR team and build and test systems and processes all built around the principles of tropical sustainability, community building, and a transformative education.

Your day to day will be in the Kalu Yala valley and consists of supporting leadership staff, advocating for students, developing approving institute-wide initiatives, contributing to a positive solutions-oriented culture, and aligning our community with the long-term vision of the Institute and Kalu Yala as a whole.

Expected Skills and Activities

Work with our leadership team to support the education goals of the Institute and the Kalu Yala goals as a whole
Execute institute goals, manage a team of 4-7, be a liaison between staff and leadership
Be a gatekeeper of the brand voice to students, staff, parents, media outlets
Work with academic partner institutions to develop our academic offerings
Work with startup partners to grow
Excited to connect to members of the local community
5+ years experience in entrepreneurship, including educating entrepreneurs

Bilingual in Spanish and English. Must speak spanish.

Degree related to education, social entrepreneurship, business or community development. Preferably a graduate level degree.

Positive, upbeat, sense of humor and enjoys serving others

Knowledge of living and working in tropical environments

Strong desire to help people and find solutions in an unpredictable setting

$60,000 annual pay + room & board in Valley. With most of your expenses covered, this is extremely competitive with wages for a similar job in the US. You will have savings to travel and live well.

6 weeks paid vacation, accrued quarterly

Presidential budget for relevant guests, dinners, and other costs
