About The Dearfield Fund

The Dearfield Fund for Black Wealth is a first-of-its-kind Black wealth fund, helping to build and grow a proven pathway for wealth creation and economic mobility in the Black community aims to serve as a national model for addressing the racial wealth gap. The Dearfield Fund is a $20 million impact fund, focused on helping Black families in the Denver metro area build wealth through homeownership. The Dearfield Fund has pioneered an innovative down-payment product that removes the capital barriers that Black and African American families face in buying their first home, creating a path toward financial well-being and wealth creation. The Fund is named after the historically black-owned town of Dearfield, Colorado, an African American farming community. The Dearfield Fund extends the vision of town founder Oliver “O.T.” Toussaint Jackson, who believed the key to Black communities owning their future was unlocking the door to their own homes and property. The Dearfield Fund for Black Wealth provides up to $40,000 in down payment assistance to first-time Black and African American homebuyers in the Denver Metro area to help build wealth and bridge the racial wealth gap.The Dearfield Fund is currently being incubated by Gary Community Ventures, a philanthropy that partners with its community to reshape the arc of opportunity for Colorado kids and families.

Reporting to the Managing Director of the Dearfield Fund, the Investment Analyst will be responsible for providing support across underwriting, capital raising, and reporting. The ideal candidate has experience in community finance, impact investing, banking, or related financial services.

Responsibilities:

Principal responsibilities include providing support across underwriting, capital raising, and reporting. Key responsibilities include but may not be limited to:

Work closely with the Managing Director of the Dearfield Fund to ensure that the internal processes needed are in place for the Dearfield Fund to execute on its mission
Create fund valuation reports and monitor fund performance based on the value of the underlying assets
Closely monitor financial regulatory environments and housing market trends
Analyze and consolidate information for investment management presentations; including maintaining investor marketing materials and pitch decks
Support the Managing Director with investor sourcing and due diligence, including investor market segmentation and outreach strategy
Manage Fund data room and investor due diligence processes
Create detailed pro forma financial models and write memorandums to clearly communicate the investment strategy
Create and update quarterly and annual investor reporting
Work with impact investing and communications team on public information materials such as press releases and fundraising plans, including creating and sourcing content for social media platforms
Project manage other service providers including internal and external legal support
Support the Managing Director with mortgage lending partner sourcing, program underwriting guidelines, and loan approvals
Assist with special projects and ad-hoc information requests
Other duties as assigned
Requirements

2-4 years working in an Analyst or Associate role in banking, impact investing, community finance, or related financial services
Must have strong financial modeling skills including understanding of structuring cash flow models, IRR analysis, valuations, and balance sheet analysis
Demonstrate basic understanding of the housing market and portfolio fund management
Must have exceptional analytical, writing, and research skills, and a high level of attention to detail and accuracy
Entrepreneurial spirit, result-oriented problem solver with a bias for action, and ability to perform in a small team environment
Must be highly organized, able to prioritize multiple concurrent projects, and be able to independently identify and solve key business problems
Capability of meeting deadlines, often within very tight timeframes
A demonstrated ability and interest in working independently with a wide range of issues, as well as the ability to work constructively and creatively as part of a team

This is a full-time role, with a salary range of $90,000 – $120,000.
