About Yunus Social Business
At Yunus Social Business, we believe strongly in the power of business to solve humanity’s most pressing problems. Co-founded by Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus, we develop market-based solutions to social or environmental issues. While Investments is our fund that finances and supports social entrepreneurs, Consulting works with large companies to transform them into a force for good.
Yunus Social Business has offices in Brazil, Colombia, India, Kenya and Uganda, in addition to its headquarters in Germany. Our portfolio of social businesses currently serves more than 13 million people in emerging and developing countries.
In our Investment Unit in Brazil, the investment structure is composed of a Credit Rights Investment Fund and has been operating in the country since 2018. Through its investments, Yunus has already invested approximately R$23 million in more than 40 loans for 16 social businesses in various sectors, such as early childhood education, professional training, waste management, subsistence, agriculture and reforestation. In addition, in 2023, through a collaborative program called Zunne, YSB supported 13 social businesses in the North and Northeast regions of Brazil to raise more than R$3 million and scale their operations.
Combined with financial support, YSB also offers non-financial support to invested social businesses, through a network of mentors and connections with mature players in the Brazilian and international markets.
