THE ROLE

The Lead Analyst is the primary data & analytics lead for one or more strategic data initiatives in inclusive finance. Each MIX Lead Analyst manages and analyzes unparalleled public and private data on impact investors, lenders, fintechs, financial service providers and other leading actors, and leads the creation of analysis and insights referenced by leading industry actors. Current initiatives are focused on inclusive fintech, digital finance, and agricultural finance. The Lead Analyst will interface with a wide range of MIX partners and collaborators on these initiatives, including corporate foundations (e.g. Visa, MetLife), multilateral institutions (e.g. CGAP), and coalitions of impact investors.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead the development and management of data collection and analysis efforts:

Conduct research into data standards and relevant sector trends to support MIX initiatives;

Develop processes and templates for end-to-end data management, leveraging MIX’s existing technology stack;

Document all work to build organizational and project knowledge.

Maintain and update initiative and project databases:

Lead data collection outreach, whether independently or in combination with other analysts;

Lead data review to improve ensure data quality;

Finalize data for submission to database and for use in analytics.

Surface insights and interactive analytics:

Gather and document requirements and plan for insight generation and interactive analytics;

Create and test outputs (insights, analytics) with target users; iterate and refine products based on feedback;

Deliver professional quality insights and analytics appropriate for a wide range of audiences.

Build and share knowledge on relevant skills and content for data initiatives teams:

Track sector trends and propose refinements for data initiatives work;

Stay on top of new developments in data analysis, data visualization and presentation and propose ways to improve data initiatives work;

Contribute to the knowledge base through sharing, trainings, or other means to raise the skill set across the team.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Passion for the role data can play in achieving global development goals

Proven data management skills, including structuring data collection, building data review processes and finalizing data sets for analysis.

Solid data analysis skills, with extensive experience with Excel and knowledge of data structuring for analysis, and prior usage of data analytics tools, such as PowerBI or Tableau.

Analytical approach that marries a deep understanding of data with a curiosity and a client-centric view of the questions to be answered and the client’s need for data.

Analytical writing skills to present clear findings and insights from data analysis.

Knowledge sharing skills, with the ability to document processes and knowledge for others to replicate and refine.

Understanding of the inclusive finance landscape and the role financial services play in achieving development goals is preferred.

Goal-oriented, problem solving attitude.

Flexible, adaptable to change.

A strong team player, adhering to team best practices, managing tasks across team members towards team deliverables, and contributing to and learning from other team members.

LOCATION

MIX is a global organization with teams located around the globe with core functional teams located in New York, Washington DC, Europe, and India.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

The Lead Analyst will report to a Director for a given data initiative. The Lead Analyst will work with other analysts sharing and building a common knowledge base and skills on all functional areas of the Lead Analyst role.
