Milaap, India\’s leading catalytic debt funder for next generation of financial inclusion, is looking for a Investments and Partnerships Manager to build and manage our portfolio. Till date, Milaap has disbursed over Rs 75 Cr+ in loan capital to 70,000+ borrowers across 22 states in India for programs such as access to education, clean water, solar lighting and small businesses, impacting 319,000 lives. These include launching India’s first skill development loan program, Mizoram’s first formal microfinance program, largest solar lighting portfolio in India across 8 states, working capital finance for artisans in Kashmir to name a few.

The Manager of Investments and Partnerships reports to the CEO of Milaap and is responsible for implementation of Milaap’s debt programs; this will include identifying opportunities of lending, on-boarding partners, and managing loan portfolio. The Manager is ultimately responsible for maintaining successful relationships with 50+ Field Partners (and growing) and stewarding our relationships with current and future institutional lenders.

Primary Responsibilities

Identify Lending Opportunities :

**Thoroughly understand grassroots lending, and build portfolio strategy in coordination with the CEO for both financial and social performance

New partner selection & on-boarding :

**Implement portfolio strategy: build, maintain, and document a pipeline of potential partners to expand our work in new geographies and loan programs for institutional lenders
**Due Diligence
**Perform a desk review and onsite due diligence of new potential field partners
**Conduct financial analysis of these  partners including spreading financials, reviewing key ratios, and identifying problems and red flags
**Create and present investment memos to the Investment committee for on-boarding new partners.

Portfolio Management :

**Manage portfolio of Field Partners by tracking financial health, social performance and operational concerns of our partners in the region to minimize portfolio and reputation risk
**Maintain high quality portfolio through effective monitoring including desk reviews of monthly/quarterly financials and portfolio reports as well as annual onsite visits of current partners
**Continually monitor portfolio composition, make necessary adjustments to loan disbursements and ensure portfolio risk is within acceptable limits
**Execute strategies to align incentives with Field Partners.

Demand – supply forecast :

**Monitor loan volume to predict partner requirements
**Ensure a healthy balance and alignment of capital supply and demand
**\”Connect the dots\” between lender’s objectives for investing (geography, cause, community etc) with eligible on-ground partners and their programs
**Communicate and present the requirements of high-impact loan programs to the CEO

Relationship Management :

**Work with the CEO to steward relationships with our institutional lenders, providing support around portfolio analysis, financial modelling and fund allocation for investments.
**Pursue new opportunities and build a pipeline of institutional lenders who’d be aligned with supporting Milaap’s loan programs.
**Attend conferences and sector specific events to communicate Milaap’s work and engage with these lenders.

Team Management :

**Oversee the work of the Lend team and Milaap Fellows placed with our Field Partners
**Provide guidance and training where necessary for the teams to address specific issues
**Forecast and build capacity as needed

Required Experience :

**3 years of professional experience in financial services, banking, or consulting – 1+ years’ experience in microfinance, impact investing, fund management is strongly preferred.
**Bachelors’ degree required; MBA preferred – at least one of those should cover finance.
**Ability and willingness to work at the grassroots upto 20% of the time
**Experience in reading and analyzing financial statements is a strong plus.
**Strong operating experience in MS Excel
**Strong interpersonal and presentation skills; disciplined, detail oriented, and accountable
**Tech savvy; ability to quickly learn new software/systems
**Strong leadership skills and demonstrated ability to influence without authority
**Fluency in English and Hindi is required. One or more regional languages are highly desirable
