Job Description
Boston University’s Innovate@BU is seeking a Program Director, Social Entrepreneurship to develop the BUild Lab IDG Capital Student Innovation Centers university-wide social entrepreneurship program portfolio strategy and implement the programs. The BUild Lab is an award-winning and fast-growing entrepreneurship center with a strong mission – to enable all BU Terriers to become drivers of innovation in their own lives, careers, and communities. The center offers a variety of programs that help students develop their entrepreneurial mindset and skills and turn their ideas into something real. It is also a coworking space for new ventures and collaborative projects. It serves undergraduate and graduate students and recent alums from all 17 of the schools and colleges at BU.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about helping students create social impact through entrepreneurship and innovation, and about community building. This role combines strategy and program development, hands-on implementation, and student coaching. It reports to the Managing Director of the BUild Lab and works in synergy with the Program Director, Business Ventures. Examples of BUild Labs programming and student support include venture incubation programs, 1:1 coaching, workshops, large-scale speaker events, challenges/hackathons, etc.

Required Skills
A Master’s or other graduate degree is preferred. Minimum of 5+ years of relevant experiences, preferably in social entrepreneurship (nonprofit or for-profit). Proven interest and experience working on important social problems; some knowledge of scholarly work on social entrepreneurship and excellent oral and written communications skills are all strongly desired. Strong understanding of the innovation process and ideally, familiarity with the local innovation ecosystem. Excellent skills in program development, project management, oral and written communication, presentation, and event management. Energetic, empathetic, and able to connect with and coach undergraduate and graduate level students. Experience with data gathering and analysis; ability to work with technologies and systems and learn new systems quickly. Ability to work well with stakeholders and build relationships. Forward-thinking, results-oriented, and embraces ambiguity and experimentation.
