Vital Voices Global Partnership, a leading international non-governmental organization committed to advancing women\’s leadership in the areas of economic empowerment, human rights, and political participation, seeks a talented professional with substantive program management, partnership development, economic development, and public speaking experience for the position of Program Manager (PM).  The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in economic development; specifically growing women-led small and growing businesses.

Position description:

VVGP invests in women business leaders to strengthen their decision-making power, grow their businesses, and ultimately increase their positive impact on society in Latin America and the Caribbean, the Middle East and North Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa, with potential future expansion into Asia. The PM will be responsible for management of high quality impactful programs including but not limited to business growth training; technical assistance and services; network development; and leadership development. In addition, the PM will provide substantive input and support as required.

Specific responsibilities include:

Economic Development Technical Content: Provide content area expertise on VV economic programs in emerging markets within one or more of the following areas: financial management, marketing, business planning, strategic networking, and/or leadership. Provide direct technical support to individual women business owners in meeting their business goals. Maintain understanding of women’s economic engagement issues globally. Serve as a resource both internally and externally to represent VV economic programs and partners.

Partnership & New Business Development:  Identify, develop, and manage global and regional partnerships to support the growth of women owned businesses in line with our team’s partnership development process and core content areas. This includes implementing and managing partnerships, reviewing such partnerships, and sustaining them. Partners may include but are not limited to potential donors, technical assistance providers, individual trainers, coaches, mentors, speakers, nominating partners, visibility partners, and other economic development partners.  Lead and/or assist in writing proposals, concept papers, pitches, individual stories, etc for partnership development purposes.

Learning and Development (M&E): Evaluate program design, course content, and materials for intended objectives and outcomes and adjust accordingly. Utilize learn-by-doing, learn-by-peers, and blended learning methodologies. Incorporate global best practices and lessons learned. Develop training tools; document or expand upon current methodologies; and design and lead technical training programs in collaboration with partners.  Ensure adherence to monitoring and evaluation systems and improve the implementation of the system with other team members. Utilize data for internal learning as well as external communications.

Program and Financial Management: Provide day-to-day management of the economic empowerment portfolio including guiding strategic program decisions; ensuring implementation of activities such as application review, interview of candidates, trainer selection and management, and design and development of training programs; preparing program related communication materials; actively monitoring and evaluating program progress; and facilitating the sharing of best practices across the organization.  Ensure adherence to VV and donor requirements, reporting, program plans, and schedules. Ensure financial resources are budgeted and spent effectively to meet program outcomes and objectives. Coordinate with other Vital Voices departments as required and necessary.

Required Qualifications:

Minimum Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of related experience in program management, women’s economic development (small- and medium-size enterprise development preferred), partnership building, or related field in emerging markets
A proven track record of strong program management including planning, program implementation, financial management, budgeting, monitoring and evaluation, and managing donor relations.
A proven track record of partnership development and ability to represent organization, both in writing and verbally
A proven track record in one or more of the following content areas: financial management, marketing, business planning, strategic networking, and/or leadership.
Ability to prioritize, implement, and deliver high-quality program within very tight timelines with minimal supervision, on time and in budget
Ability to analyze both quantitative and qualitative data, evaluate effectiveness of programs and adjust design as necessary.

Other desired characteristics

Fluency in written and oral Arabic, Spanish, French, and/or Portuguese
Experience with online learning and use of technology
Advanced computer literacy, including strong Excel and PowerPoint skills.
Ability to work well with teams and individually
Salesforce experience a plus.
Proven track record of new business development
Other duties as assigned.

This full-time, salaried position is based in Washington, DC and requires approximately 20% international travel. Vital Voices does not provide work visa sponsorship or relocation assistance for this position.
