The Program Manager, School Programs will be instrumental in helping The Grassroot Project (TGP) in making the exciting transition from a small start-up non-profit to an organization with sustainable programming, management, and implementation research that excels TGP to the forefront of the youth development and health education stage. The Program Manager, School Programs will play a significant role in improving the quality and management of our core programming and improving our impact on youth by ensuring quality programming with the most impactful reach possible. Working with the Director of Programs and the programming team, the Program Manager will oversee the planning and day-to-day operations of our programs in public and charter schools. S/he will be responsible for maintaining the program calendar, matching athletes with school classes, and promoting a positive relationship with school leaders. As the new curricula are piloted and tested, the Program Manager will help to utilize data and program evaluation to develop and strengthen the curricula. Additionally, s/he will assist with athlete training and recruitment, parent programming, community connections events and other new TGP programs as needed by The Grassroot Project.

Oversee student-athlete volunteers
Manage relationships with DC public and charter schools (both administration and individual P.E./health teachers)
Manage program schedule (both with schools and student-athlete volunteers) and parent programs
Develop, pilot, and evaluate curricula
Oversee student-athlete training and supervision/quality control as s/he lead programs
Analyze program data
Assist in management of the program budget
Help to create program reports that will be distributed to student-athletes, donors, board of directors, athletic departments
Assist in management of program specific grants and donors
Assist with TGP events, e.g. Community Connections, graduation ceremonies, pilot projects, summer programming
Assist with student-athlete recruitment and athlete leader team
Other duties as needed by The Grassroot Project (up to 10% of your time)

Skills & Experience

Items indicated with an asterisk (*) are required

Bachelor’s degree*
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in public health or related field
Experience in program evaluation (data collection, compiling data, and analyzing data)*
Project management experience, especially coordinating others to achieve a shared goal; must be able to create project plans to keep all collaborators informed, on time, on budget*
Strong oral communicator with experience speaking publicly, e.g. facilitating meetings/workshops, formally teaching/mentoring others, presenting at conferences, etc.*
Proficiency in Excel*
Passion for working with youth*
Experience working with youth and schools in urban environments and/or experience working in schools
Experience with curriculum development
Experience working with college athletes
Experience in planning and executing a marketing plan, especially in regard to social media
Experience with written project and grant proposals specifically in the public health field
Experience monitoring expenses and correlating that into a program budget
Experience working with Salesforce and/or statistical programs such as STATA
Passion for the field of sport for development, as well as a sincere interest in youth development and health education
Desire to work in a start-up environment and take on significant initiative and responsibility in programs
Knowledge of the social issues surrounding HIV/AIDS, sexual health, physical health, and mental health
Strong accountability and attention to detail
