The Microfinance CEO Working Group (MCWG) is looking for a self-motivated Public Relations and Communications Specialist with excellent communication, database and financial planning skills. This position will assist the MCWG Director in Washington, DC with a variety of strategic planning and program development opportunities, as well as participating in the day-to-day activities of the MCWG.

The MCWG is a collaborative effort by the CEOs of eight leading global microfinance organizations whose impact is felt in 70 countries on five continents, and whose products and services are designed to offer support and opportunity to millions of low-income people around the world. Its members include Accion, BRAC and BRAC International, CARE, FINCA, Freedom from Hunger, Grameen Foundation, Opportunity International, Pro Mujer, VisionFund International, and Women’s World Banking. Since 2011, the Working Group has worked to support the positive evolution of the microfinance industry. The Working Group is committed to ensuring that the microfinance industry reaches its full potential by advocating for, and implementing, responsible business practices that keep clients at the forefront.  Its agenda is both industry-facing, working with participants in the microfinance, and outward-facing, addressing the broader community, especially those who support, influence and set the environment for the industry.  The Center for Financial Inclusion at Accion presently houses the secretariat for the Microfinance CEO Working Group.

Assist with finalizing and implementing a multi-year communications plan that ensures the group is an effective advocate
Proactively secure opportunities to disseminate the messages of the Working Group to key audiences, including practitioners, funders, and media
Assist with the development of effective communications materials, segmented by audience, and an informational website.
Contacting MFIs for additional information when needed
Prepare transcripts of all meetings of the CEOs and of the peer groups
Support the external communications strategy for the unit as needed
Prepare minutes for peer groups in Human Resources, Social Performance, Communications, Legal, Risk Management, Finance/Tax, etc.
Participate in the development of concept papers, funding proposals, and blogs
Develop budgets and financial projections for projects of the MCWG
Create and maintain databases of information about Working Group affiliates
Complete administrative tasks and special projects for the MCWG as needed

Minimum 3 years of public relations experience; association, finance, and/or international PR experience preferred.
Bachelor’s degree required; Masters in relative field preferred.
Excellent writing, editing, and interpersonal skills
Ability to interact effectively and work with a multi-cultural global teams and develop effective relationships with diverse stakeholders
Advanced MS Office skills especially power point and excel; knowledge of social media
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to think strategically
Attention to detail
Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks
Self-starter, willingness to take initiative and work both individually and in groups
Fluency in English required, proficiency in one other language highly desired
