The Research Associate will work hand-in-hand with the Research Team to achieve Baylor-Malawi’s mission and objectives. The Research Associate will provide technical support to both the TSP and Tingathe Programs by assisting in research project support, contributing to study reports and tools, performing literature reviews, managing study data, as well as providing other programmatic support. The Research Associate will play an integral role in the Baylor-Malawi team by providing support and technical experience to the Tingathe and TSP research programs.

Assist with implementation of study protocols (recruitment, data collection, data quality audits)
Assist with development of study tools
Perform literature reviews
Assist with data management and analysis
Contribute to programmatic and study reports, publications, and presentations
Other duties as assigned

Skills & Experience

Items indicated with an asterisk (*) are required

Bachelor’s degree*
Preferred: Bachelor’s or post-graduate qualification (master’s) degree in epidemiology, statistics, public health, or related subjects
Demonstrated experience participating in various aspects of quantitative or qualitative research in support of improved project/program performance*
Moderate to advanced experience with Microsoft Excel*
Experience with referring software such as Endnote, Papers, Mendeley*
Excellent written and oral communication*
Experience with data management, including ability to manage, gather, clean, and analyze data and report findings
Experience with STATA, SPSS, SAS, R, JMP, or other statistical software highly desirable
Ability to create monitoring and research tools
Prior experience with research
Experience supporting or managing teams such as study teams
Experience in scientific writing; publications are a plus
Methodical, good attention to detail, and proven ability to complete projects in a timely manner
Ability to proactively identify and address issues and appropriately communicate these to project leadership
Ability to meet deadlines with strong attention to consistency, detail, and quality
Ability to travel within country and internationally
Hard-working, committed individual with high attention to detail
Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time
