Overview

The Research and Grants Associate will help to provide overall leadership and management for the Center for Health, Human Rights and Development’s (CEHURD) research processes and the coordination of CEHURD’s fundraising. This is a dynamic position that requires a Research and Grants Associate to provide leadership in designing and implementing research projects and evidence-based advocacy initiatives, fundraising, and coordination of regional health equity initiatives that correspond with CEHURD’s Strategic Plan.

Responsibilities

Support CEHURD in producing high quality evidence-based research to inform processes on Health, Human Rights, and Equity
Lead fundraising efforts for CEHURD’s research and health equity work, as well as other activities
Work in partnership with key internal and external stakeholders both at national and regional level to develop and disseminate evidence on health, human rights, and equity
Serve as a key advisor on research and practice enhancement at CEHURD including obtaining ethical clearance for research, developing research tools, designing methodologies, and leading on data collection, analysis, and dissemination
Represent and present CEHURD’s research work including the identification of various fora for such dissemination
Be the focal point person in CEHURD for regional work in health and strengthen national and regional capacities in advancing health equity
Develop new evidence based solutions that are responsive  to changing needs and identified gaps and prioritizing the piloting of relevant new initiatives in CEHURD’s programs
Integrate knowledge and practice models across all CDHURD programs
Develop and manage a database for CEHURD’s work
Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director, Supervisor, program managers, or other duly authorized staff

Skills & Experience

Items indicated with an asterisk (*) are required

Bachelor’ degree*
Preferred: Bachelor\’s or master’s degree in public health or any other health science related field
Two years of professional experience conducting research projects or submitting for/managing research grants*
Experience in both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies*
Demonstrated ability to write in a variety of formats*
Experience developing project plans for conducting and disseminating research projects
A high standard of written and oral skills including the ability to present and effectively debate complex issues
Professional experience or academic training in the broad range of issues impacting on health systems delivery and health equity
Strong planning, organizing, and project management skills
Excellent verbal communication skills for different purposes and audiences
Demonstrated ability and experience in working both autonomously and collaboratively with relevant stakeholders
Willingness to adhere to CEHURD values and to actively promote their application amongst colleagues
Undertake tasks in a creative, self-driven, and innovative fashion
Identify and implement additional tasks/ideas of benefit to the organization
Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, evidence-based practice in health, human rights, and equity research
Demonstrated ability to think and analyze critically into health equity issues
